Gidya is a very quiet place in Queensland, Australia. It's located in the Shire of Burke. According to the 2021 census, Gidya has almost no people living there. It's a really empty area!
Gidya's Location and Land
Gidya is part of a large area called the Gulf Country. This region is known for its wide-open spaces. The Leichhardt River flows along the eastern side of Gidya.
Most of the land in Gidya is used for grazing. This means cattle or sheep eat the natural plants. A big part of Gidya is inside the Kamilaroi pastoral station. This station is owned by the Stanbroke Pastoral Company.
A Brief History of Gidya
Gidya became an official place on 25 May 2001. The government department in charge of land, the Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, gave it its name and set its boundaries.

There are no schools in Gidya itself. There aren't any schools very close by either. So, if kids live in this area, they have two main ways to learn.
