The Story of Gift Wrapped
Sylvester's Christmas Wish
On Christmas morning, Sylvester wakes up excited. He finds presents under the Christmas tree. But his gift is just a rubber mouse, which makes him sad. Then, he hears singing from a gift-wrapped birdcage. It is labeled for Granny. Sylvester peeks inside and sees Tweety. He decides he wants Tweety as his present. So, he quickly switches the gift tags. Granny comes downstairs just as he finishes.
Granny's Discovery
Granny gives the birdcage to Sylvester. She opens her own box, finding the rubber mouse. She thinks there's been a mistake. But then she sees Sylvester hiccuping Tweety's feathers! Granny immediately knows what happened. She makes Sylvester spit Tweety out. After a good scolding, Granny tells Sylvester to kiss Tweety. She holds a sprig of mistletoe over them. But Sylvester eats Tweety again! This leads to another forced spit-up.
Tricky Attempts to Catch Tweety
Granny places Tweety's cage high on a pole. She thinks Sylvester cannot reach it there. But Sylvester is very determined to get his meal. In his first try, Tweety points out a huge present. It is waiting under the Christmas tree. Sylvester quickly forgets about Tweety. He runs to the big package. He opens it eagerly, only to find Hector the Bulldog inside! Hector promptly eats Sylvester. Granny makes Hector spit Sylvester out. She then drags Sylvester away from the room.
Sylvester keeps trying to catch Tweety. Here are some of his funny failures:
- He tries to reel in Tweety's cage. He uses a toy steam crane from the top of the stairs. But an angry Granny is waiting at the end of the crane's claw. She has a broomstick and chases Sylvester away.
- From the attic, Sylvester saws a hole in the floor. He uses a hook to grab the latch on Tweety's cage. Tweety watches and says, "That puddy tat sure doesn't get discouraged." Tweety quickly swaps himself with a lit stick of dynamite. The dynamite explodes just after the cage is pulled into the attic. A dazed and blackened Sylvester stumbles downstairs.
- Sylvester pretends to be Geronimo in a Western-style showdown. He sneaks up the Christmas tree. Tweety is playing Hopalong Cassidy. Tweety points a pop gun at Sylvester. He says, "Stick 'em up, Geronimo!" But the gun fires a real gunshot in Sylvester's face! An annoyed Sylvester uses his bow and arrow to catch Tweety. Just before he can eat the bird, Granny shoots a toilet plunger over Sylvester's mouth. She says, "You didn't count on Pocahontas, did you, Geronimo?"
The Final Chase
In the last part, Tweety plays with his new train set. Sylvester sneaks in with extra train tracks. He sets them up to guide the train right into his open mouth. He then sets the train to go backward. After eating Tweety, Sylvester is then eaten by Hector. An angry Granny makes both the dog and cat spit out their prey. She has had enough of their chasing! She declares there will be peace in the house. She drags both of them out of the room.
The cartoon ends in the evening. Granny plays the pipe organ. Tweety, who has been good, sings a Christmas carol. It's a version of "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing". Sylvester and Hector are next to Tweety. They both have giant Christmas tree stamps taped over their mouths. This stops them from causing more trouble.
