Ginnifer Goodwin (born Jennifer Michelle Goodwin on May 22, 1978) is an American actress. She is known for her roles in popular TV shows and movies.
She played Margene Heffman in the TV series Big Love from 2006 to 2011. Ginnifer also starred as Snow White in the fantasy series Once Upon a Time from 2011 to 2018. Many people also know her voice as Judy Hopps in the animated movie Zootopia (2016). She also appeared as Beth Ann Stanton in Why Women Kill (2019).
Goodwin has been in several films. These include the drama Mona Lisa Smile (2003) and the musical movie Walk the Line (2005). She also starred in the romantic comedy He's Just Not That Into You (2009). Other films include Ramona and Beezus (2010) and Something Borrowed (2011). She also voiced Fawn in the animated film Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast (2014).

Early Life and Education
Ginnifer Goodwin was born in Memphis, Tennessee. Her mother, Linda, was a teacher and worked for FedEx. Her father, Tim, owned a recording studio.
Ginnifer changed the spelling of her first name from "Jennifer" to "Ginnifer." She did this to make it special and to show how it sounds in her Southern accent. Her younger sister, Melissa, is an animator for shows like Robot Chicken.
Goodwin's mother is Jewish. Ginnifer grew up attending both a Unitarian church and a Jewish temple. As a child, she went to a summer camp for Jewish children. She was baptized as a child and also had a bat mitzvah. This is a Jewish ceremony that celebrates a girl becoming an adult.
In her youth, Ginnifer was active in Jewish youth groups. She went to private schools in Memphis, Tennessee. She graduated from Lausanne Collegiate School in 1996.
She studied theater at Hanover College for one year. Then she transferred to Boston University and earned a degree in Fine Arts. While at Boston University, she acted in many student films and plays. She received an award for her acting skills. After college, she studied acting in England. She trained at the Shakespeare Institute and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

Goodwin started her acting career on TV shows like Law & Order and Ed. She also appeared in the TV movie ... 'n Chicken.
She then got bigger roles in movies. These included Mona Lisa Smile and Win a Date with Tad Hamilton!. In Walk the Line, she played Vivian Liberto, who was Johnny Cash's first wife. She also appeared in Birds of America.
Goodwin played a main role as Margene Heffman in the HBO series Big Love. In this show, she was the third wife in a family with more than one spouse. The series ended in 2011. Goodwin also did voice work for the show Robot Chicken. Her younger sister works as an animator on that show.
In 2008, Ginnifer received an award called "Face of the Future." This award recognizes new and promising women in film.
Goodwin played Gigi in the movie He's Just Not That Into You (2009). For this role, she was nominated for a People's Choice Award. In 2009, she started filming Ramona and Beezus, where she played "Aunt Bea." This movie came out in 2010.
From 2011 to 2017, Goodwin starred in the ABC fantasy series Once Upon a Time. She played two characters: the fairy tale hero Snow White and her real-world self, Mary Margaret Blanchard. Ginnifer and her husband, Josh Dallas, left the show after its sixth season. They returned for the final episode in the seventh season.
Goodwin voiced Judy Hopps, the rabbit police officer in Disney's Zootopia. She also voiced Fawn in Disney's animated film Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast. She also lent her voice to Gwen in the animated series Sofia The First.
In 2017, Goodwin acted in a play called Constellations in Los Angeles.
In 2019, Goodwin appeared in episodes of The Twilight Zone and Heartstrings. Also in 2019, she starred as Beth Ann in the first season of the series Why Women Kill.
Goodwin played Jodie in the Fox comedy series Pivoting. This show started in January 2022 but was canceled after one season.
Ginnifer Goodwin will return as the voice of Judy Hopps in Zootopia 2, which is expected to be released in November 2025.
Personal Life
Ginnifer Goodwin started dating her Once Upon a Time co-star Josh Dallas in late 2011. They got engaged in October 2013. They were married on April 12, 2014, in California. They have two sons, born in May 2014 and June 2016.
In 2013, Goodwin shared that she reconnected with her Jewish faith. She said, "I was a Jew by birth, and now I'm a Jew by choice."
