Jennifer Michelle "Ginnifer" Goodwin (born May 22, 1978) is an American actress. She is known for her roles in popular TV shows and movies. You might recognize her as Snow White in the fantasy series Once Upon a Time. She also voiced the brave rabbit police officer, Judy Hopps, in the Disney animated movie Zootopia.
Goodwin has appeared in many films. These include the drama Mona Lisa Smile (2003) and the musical movie Walk the Line (2005). She also starred in the romantic comedy He's Just Not That Into You (2009). For younger audiences, she was in the family comedy Ramona and Beezus (2010). She also lent her voice to the character Fawn in the animated film Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast (2014).

About Ginnifer Goodwin's Early Life
Ginnifer Goodwin was born in Memphis, Tennessee. Her mother, Linda Kantor Goodwin, used to be a teacher. Her father, Tim Goodwin, owned a recording studio. Ginnifer changed the spelling of her first name from "Jennifer" to "Ginnifer." She did this to make it unique and easier to pronounce with her Southern accent. Her younger sister, Melissa Goodwin, works as an animator. She creates stop-motion animation for shows like Robot Chicken.
Goodwin's mother is Jewish. Ginnifer grew up going to both a church and a synagogue. As a child, she attended a summer camp for Reform Jewish children. She was both baptized and had a Bat Mitzvah service.
Ginnifer's Education and Training
Goodwin went to school at St. Mary's Episcopal School in Memphis. She then graduated from Lausanne Collegiate School in 1996. After that, she studied theater at Hanover College for a year. She then earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Boston University. While at Boston University, she acted in many student films and plays. She received an award for her acting promise.
After college, she lived in England for a while. She studied at Stratford on Avon's Shakespeare Institute. This was connected with the Royal Shakespeare Company. The next year, she earned a special certificate in Acting Shakespeare from London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
Ginnifer Goodwin's Acting Career
Goodwin has had many important roles in movies. These include Mona Lisa Smile and Walk the Line. In Walk the Line, she played Vivian Liberto, who was Johnny Cash's first wife. She also played a main role in the HBO TV series Big Love. In this show, she was Margene Heffman, the third wife in a polygamous family. Goodwin has also done voice acting for the show Robot Chicken. Her younger sister works on that show as an animator.
In 2008, Goodwin received an award called "Face of the Future." This award recognizes new and promising women in film.
Goodwin played Gigi in the movie He's Just Not That Into You (2009). For this role, she was nominated for a People's Choice Award. In 2009, she started filming Ramona and Beezus, where she played "Aunt Bea." This movie came out in 2010.
From 2011 to 2017, Goodwin starred in the ABC fantasy drama series Once Upon a Time. She played two characters: the fairy tale hero Snow White and her modern-day self, Mary Margaret Blanchard. Goodwin and her husband, Josh Dallas, left the show after its sixth season. They returned for the show's final episode in the seventh season.
Goodwin voiced Judy Hopps, the main rabbit police officer in Disney's Zootopia. She also voiced Fawn in Disney's animated film Tinker Bell and the Legend of the Neverbeast. She also voiced Gwen, a kitchen maid, in the animated series Sofia The First.
In 2019, Goodwin appeared in episodes of the TV shows The Twilight Zone and Heartstrings. Also in 2019, she starred as Beth Ann in the first season of the series Why Women Kill.
Goodwin played Jodie in the Fox comedy series Pivoting, which started in 2022. The show ran for one season. Goodwin will return as the voice of Judy Hopps in Zootopia 2, which is expected in 2025.
Ginnifer Goodwin's Personal Life
Goodwin dated actor Joey Kern and they were engaged in 2010. They ended their engagement in 2011. Later in 2011, Goodwin started dating her Once Upon a Time co-star Josh Dallas. They got engaged in 2013 and married on April 12, 2014, in California. They have two sons, born in May 2014 and June 2016.
In 2013, Goodwin shared that she reconnected with her Jewish faith. She said, "I was a Jew by birth, and now I'm a Jew by choice."
