Glenn Franklin Howerton III (born April 13, 1976) is an American actor. He is famous for playing Dennis Reynolds in the TV show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. This show has been on TV for a long time, starting in 2005. Glenn also helped create the show and works as a writer and producer for it.

He is also well-known for his role as Jim Balsillie in the movie BlackBerry (2023). Critics really liked his performance in this film. On television, he has played important roles like Corey Howard in That '80s Show (2002) and Jack Griffin in A.P. Bio (2018–2021). He also voices Fred Jones in the animated series Velma. From 2021 to 2023, Glenn also co-hosted The Always Sunny Podcast.

Early Life and School

Glenn Franklin Howerton III was born on April 13, 1976, in Japan. His parents, Janice and Glenn Franklin Howerton Jr., were American. His father was a fighter pilot. Glenn has an older sister named Courtney.

Soon after he was born, his family moved around a lot. They lived in Arizona and New Mexico for a short time. When he was three, they moved to Felixstowe, Suffolk in England for four years. After that, they lived in Virginia and then Seoul, South Korea. When Glenn was 10, his family settled in Montgomery, Alabama.

After finishing high school at Jefferson Davis High School, Glenn moved to Miami. He studied at New World School of the Arts for two years. In 1996, he went to the Juilliard School in New York City. He earned a degree in Fine Arts there in 2000.

Acting Career

In 2002, Glenn Howerton played Corey Howard in the TV show That '80s Show. He also appeared in ER as Dr. Nick Cooper in 2003. He had small parts in movies like Must Love Dogs (2005) and Serenity (2005). He was also a doctor in the movie Crank (2006) and its sequel Crank: High Voltage (2009).

Glenn is most famous for playing Dennis Reynolds on the FX comedy show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Dennis is a very self-centered character who works at Paddy's Pub. Glenn helped create this show with Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day. They are also executive producers, writers, and main actors on the show. Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito also star in it. As of 2021, It's Always Sunny became the longest-running live-action American comedy series ever.

In 2013, Glenn played the main role for the first time in a movie called Coffee Town. He then had regular roles in other TV shows. He played Cliff Gilbert in The Mindy Project (2012–2017). He was also Don Chumph in the first season of Fargo (2014).

His next big TV role was Jack Griffin in the NBC comedy A.P. Bio (2018–2021). In this show, he played a smart but arrogant professor who had to teach high school biology. The show ran for two seasons on NBC and two more on the streaming service Peacock. In 2022, it was announced that Glenn would voice Fred Jones in the animated series Velma.

In November 2021, Glenn, Charlie Day, and Rob McElhenney started The Always Sunny Podcast. This weekly show talks about their experiences making It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. In 2022, Glenn co-starred with Jay Baruchel in the Canadian movie BlackBerry. This film tells the story of how BlackBerry phones became popular and then declined. Glenn's acting as Jim Balsillie in this movie was highly praised. In 2024, it was announced that Glenn will play Ethan Corbin II in an upcoming Netflix show called Sirens.

Personal Life

Glenn Howerton met actress Morena Baccarin when they were both at the Juilliard School. In 2001, he met Charlie Day after an audition. Later, Glenn and Charlie, along with their friend Rob McElhenney, created It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Glenn married actress and dancer Jill Latiano on September 5, 2009. They had been engaged for over a year. Their first son was born in September 2011, and their second son was born in 2014. In 2023, Glenn was diagnosed with ADHD. He has also mentioned that he follows a vegan diet most of the time.
