Kaitlin Willow Olson McElhenney (born August 18, 1975) is an American actress and comedian. She is well known for playing Deandra "Sweet Dee" Reynolds in the TV comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. This show has been on air since 2005.
Kaitlin also starred as Mackenzie "Mickey" Molng in the comedy series The Mick (2017–2018). More recently, she plays DJ Vance in the comedy-drama Hacks (2021-present).
Olson started her acting journey in Los Angeles. She had small roles in different TV comedies before becoming "Sweet Dee." She has also appeared in several funny movies. These include Leap Year (2010), Finding Dory (2016), and Champions (2023).
Kaitlin Olson has been nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards. Her first nomination was for her role in the comedy series Flipped (2020). She later received two more nominations for her role as DJ in Hacks.

Kaitlin Olson's Early Life
Kaitlin Olson was born in Portland, Oregon, on August 18, 1975. Her father, Donald Lee Olson, was a publisher, and her mother, Melinda Leora, was a nurse. Soon after she was born, her family moved to Spokane, Washington, and then to Vashon Island, Washington. She lived there until she was eight years old.
Her family then moved back to the Portland area, settling in Tualatin. Kaitlin grew up on a farm there. When she was twelve, she had a serious bicycle accident. She needed surgery to fix her skull.
Kaitlin graduated from Tigard High School in Tigard, Oregon, in 1993. She then studied theater at the University of Oregon. She earned a degree in theater arts in 1997. After college, she moved to Los Angeles to become a professional actress.
Kaitlin Olson's Acting Career
Kaitlin Olson was part of The Groundlings Sunday Company, a famous comedy group. She also toured with the USO to entertain troops in places like Bosnia and Kosovo. In 2000, she first appeared on TV in the show Curb Your Enthusiasm.
She also made guest appearances in many other TV shows. These include The Drew Carey Show, Family Guy, and Punk'd. She had a small part in the movie Coyote Ugly.
In 2004, Kaitlin was chosen for her most famous role. She became Deandra "Sweet Dee" Reynolds in the TV show It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. She is known for her funny physical comedy in this role.
Kaitlin has also done voice acting. She voiced Ethel in the animated series Brickleberry. In 2016, she was the voice of Destiny in Disney's movie Finding Dory.
She then starred in the TV show The Mick, which started in 2017. Kaitlin was also an executive producer for this show. The show ran for two seasons.
Since 2021, Kaitlin has appeared in Hacks as DJ. She has received two Emmy nominations for this role. In 2024, Kaitlin began starring in the new crime drama High Potential.
Kaitlin Olson's Personal Life
Kaitlin Olson married her It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia co-star, Rob McElhenney. They got married in Malibu, California, on September 27, 2008. The couple started dating secretly during the second season of their show.
In 2009, Kaitlin and Rob bought a bar in Philadelphia. They renamed it Mac's Tavern. In 2010, their first son, Axel, was born at their home in California. Their second son was born in 2012.
