A Glimpse into Goodrington's Past
Goodrington has a long history! It was first mentioned way back in the year 1086 in a very old book called the Domesday Book. Back then, it was called Godrintone. Over the years, its name changed a bit, and by the 1700s, people were writing it as Goderington.
For a long time, local areas were managed by something called a "hundred." Goodrington was part of the Kerswell Hundred, and later the Haytor Hundred. Today, many local services for Goodrington are provided by the Torbay Council, which started in 1972.
