What is Grand Secret Like?
Most of Grand Secret is open land used for grazing. This means that animals like cattle eat the native plants there. Only a small part of the suburb, in the southeast, has houses where people live.
A Golden Past: Grand Secret's History
The name "Grand Secret" likely comes from two old gold mines. These mines were very active in the late 1800s.
- The first mine operated from 1882 to 1884.
- The second mine worked from 1895 to 1897.
Both of these historic gold mines were located in the southern part of the suburb.
How Grand Secret Changed
In 2010, some changes were made to the local areas. The central suburb of Charters Towers City was created. This new area was formed by combining an older suburb called Lissner with parts of Grand Secret and Queenton.
