Great Hallingbury is a charming village located in the Uttlesford district of Essex, England. It is a small community, with about 713 people living there according to the 2011 census. The village is close to the town of Bishop's Stortford. It is also near the M11 motorway, which is a major road. Great Hallingbury includes several smaller areas called hamlets. These include Bedlar's Green, Hallingbury Street, Howe Green, Start Hill, Tilekiln Green, and Woodside Green.

A Glimpse into History
An important historical figure once lived in Great Hallingbury. This was William Parker, 4th Baron Monteagle. He is well-known for his part in discovering the Gunpowder Plot. This was a famous plan to blow up the Houses of Parliament. William Parker died in the village on July 1, 1622.
Nature and Local Landmarks
Right on the edge of Great Hallingbury is a special place. It is called Hatfield Forest. This forest used to be a Royal Hunting Forest many years ago. Today, it is looked after by the National Trust. This means it is protected for everyone to enjoy. It's a great place for walks and to see nature.
A sad event happened near the forest on December 22, 1999. A plane called Korean Air Cargo Flight 8509 crashed into Hatfield Forest. This happened shortly after it took off from London Stansted Airport. All four crew members on board the plane died in the accident.
