Great Waters Music Festival facts for kids
The Great Waters Music Festival (often called GWMF) is a super fun music event that happens every summer in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, USA. This town is about two hours north of Boston. The festival started in 1995. Its main goal was to let people enjoy live music played by amazing musicians. These musicians include both talented amateurs and professionals.
The festival features many different kinds of music. You can hear choral music (that's singing groups), symphony music (played by a big orchestra), folk songs, pop hits, jazz, and even music from Broadway shows. There's also dance performances!
When the festival first started, only 325 people came. But it has grown a lot since then! Now, over 7,000 people enjoy the concerts during its eight-week schedule. The first concerts were held in a big white tent. But in 2011, the festival moved to a new, much nicer place. It's called the Kingswood Arts Center. This building has air conditioning and can seat almost 1,000 people.
