Gregory Buck Kinnear (born June 17, 1963) is an American actor and a former talk show host. He is well-known for his roles in many popular movies and TV shows. He was even nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his part in the movie As Good as It Gets (1997).
Kinnear has appeared in many films that you might know. These include Sabrina (1995), You've Got Mail (1998), and Little Miss Sunshine (2006). He has also been in TV shows like Friends and Modern Family. He even played important historical figures like John F. Kennedy and Joe Biden in TV productions.
Early life and education
Greg Kinnear was born on June 17, 1963, in Logansport, Indiana. His mother, Suzanne, was a homemaker. His father, Edward Kinnear, worked for the U.S. State Department. This meant his family moved around a lot.
He has two older brothers, James and Steven. Greg's family moved to places like Beirut and Athens. Because his father was a diplomat, Greg grew up as a "Foreign Service brat." This means he lived in many different countries. While he was a student in Athens, he even had his own radio show called School Daze With Greg Kinnear. After high school, he returned to the United States. He went to the University of Arizona and graduated in 1985. He studied broadcast journalism, which is about reporting news on TV or radio.

Greg Kinnear started his career as a host on TV. He hosted a short game show called College Mad House. From 1991 to 1995, he was the first host of Talk Soup. This show featured funny clips from other talk shows. After that, he hosted his own late-night talk show, Later with Greg Kinnear.

A notable role was in the Oscar-winning movie Little Miss Sunshine (2006). He played Richard Hoover, a dad trying to help his family. He also starred in Invincible with Mark Wahlberg. This movie was based on the true story of a man who tried out for a professional football team. In We Were Soldiers (2002), he played Major Bruce P. Crandall, a real-life hero from the Battle of Ia Drang.
