Grumpy Cat was a very famous cat on the internet. Her real name was Tardar Sauce. She was born on April 4, 2012, and passed away on May 14, 2019. Grumpy Cat became popular because she always looked unhappy or "grumpy".
Her owner explained that her unique grumpy face was due to a condition called dwarfism. It also had to do with how her teeth were placed in her mouth. Even though she looked grumpy, she was actually a calm and friendly cat.

The Story of Grumpy Cat
Grumpy Cat, whose real name was Tardar Sauce, lived with her owner, Tabatha Bundesen. They lived in Morristown, Arizona, in the United States.
She was born with a flat face, round eyes, and a short tail. Her mother was a calico cat with short hair. Her father had grey and white stripes. Tardar Sauce was smaller than other cats of her kind. Her back legs were also a bit different. Despite her grumpy expression, she was a very nice cat. Interestingly, her brother, Pokey, who was born at the same time, was the one with the truly grumpy personality!
Her owners said that Tardar Sauce was a normal cat "99% of the time." To keep her happy and healthy, she only had photos taken once a week. She also wasn't handled by strangers very often.
How Grumpy Cat Became Famous
