The Gulf of Aqaba is a long, narrow arm of the Red Sea. It is located between the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula in Saudi Arabia. This gulf is also known as the Gulf of Eilat. It stretches about 170 kilometers (106 miles) long and up to 26 kilometers (16 miles) wide. At its northern tip, three important cities meet: Taba in Egypt, Eilat in Israel, and Aqaba in Jordan.

Where is the Gulf of Aqaba?
The Gulf of Aqaba is part of the Red Sea, which is connected to the Indian Ocean. It forms the eastern side of the Sinai Peninsula. On its western side is Egypt, and on its eastern side are Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Israel has a small coastline at the very northern end.
This gulf is a very deep part of the ocean. It is part of the Great Rift Valley. This is a huge crack in the Earth's surface that runs through Africa and Asia. The deep waters of the gulf are home to many interesting sea creatures.

Jordan's Coastline
Jordan's only seaport is the city of Aqaba. This city is located on the northeastern side of the gulf. Aqaba is a busy port for trade and shipping. It is also a growing tourist destination. Visitors can enjoy historical sites, beaches, and water sports.
Saudi Arabia's Coastline
Saudi Arabia has a long eastern coastline along the Gulf of Aqaba. This area is less developed for tourism compared to the other sides. However, it is an important strategic area for the country.
