The quakes ranged from very small (1.8 magnitude, barely felt) to quite strong (4.7 magnitude, very noticeable). Scientists from the US Geological Survey and the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission investigated these events.
These earthquakes might be linked to the process of injecting salty water and other waste fluids deep underground. This is done to get rid of the fluids without polluting surface water or groundwater.
