A Look Back: Hämikon's History

Exploring Hämikon's Geography
Hämikon covers an area of about 4.6 square kilometers (which is about 1.8 square miles). Most of this land is used for farming, about 66.8% of it. Forests cover another big part, about 27.4%. The rest of the land, about 5.8%, is where buildings and roads are.
The town is located on the western side of a mountain called Lindenberg. In 2006, there was an idea to combine Hämikon with Hitzkirch and 10 other towns. But this bigger plan didn't work out because five of the towns voted against it.
Later, a smaller plan was suggested. Hämikon, along with Gelfingen, Mosen, Müswangen, Retschwil, and Sulz, agreed to join Hitzkirch. This merger happened in 2009.
