A Look Back: Mosen's History
Mosen was first mentioned in old records way back in 1045. At that time, its name was written as Moseheim. Later, in 1264, it was referred to as Mosheim. These old names help us trace the town's long history.

Mosen is a small area, covering about 1.6 square kilometers (about 0.6 square miles). A large part of this land, about 70.9%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 15.2% of the area. Buildings and roads make up 11.4% of the land. The remaining 2.5% includes natural features like rivers.
The municipality is located in a beautiful area called the Seetal valley. It sits right at the southern end of Lake Hallwil.
How Mosen Joined Hitzkirch
In 2006, there was an idea to combine Hitzkirch with 10 other nearby towns. However, this plan didn't work out because five of the eleven towns voted against it.
After that, a new, smaller plan was suggested. This time, Mosen and five other towns agreed to join Hitzkirch. These towns were Gelfingen, Hämikon, Müswangen, Retschwil, and Sulz. This merger happened on January 1, 2009.
