Härjedalen Municipality (which is Härjedalens kommun in Swedish and Herjedaelien tjïelte in South Sami) is a special area in Jämtland County in northern Sweden. It's like a big local government area. The main town where everything is managed is called Sveg.
This municipality was created in 1974. It's one of only two places in Sweden named after a traditional province. It was formed by joining nine smaller local areas that existed way back in 1863.

Exploring Härjedalen's Landscape
Härjedalen Municipality is super big! It covers about 11,935 square kilometers. This makes it the fifth largest municipality in all of Sweden.
Vast Wilderness and Few People
Even though it's huge, most of Härjedalen is wilderness. This means there are lots of forests, mountains, and open spaces, but not many people live there. To give you an idea, it's as big as Uppsala County and Stockholm County put together. But those two counties have over 2,000,000 people, while Härjedalen has far fewer.
