Hackensack is a small city located in Cass County, Minnesota, United States. In 2020, about 294 people lived there. It's part of the larger Brainerd area.

History of Hackensack
Hackensack got its name from Hackensack, New Jersey. A post office, where people send and receive mail, has been open in Hackensack since 1888.
Since the 1940s, people in Hackensack have called their town the "Home of Paul Bunyan's Sweetheart Lucette." Paul Bunyan is a famous giant lumberjack from American folklore. A statue of Lucette was first placed in City Park in the 1940s. In 1991, a new, much larger statue of Lucette, made of fiberglass and seventeen feet tall, replaced the old one.
Geography and Nature
Hackensack is a small city with a total area of about 1.02 square miles (2.64 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.
Minnesota State Highway 371 is the main road that runs through the community.
The city is located right on the eastern shore of Birch Lake. There's a special boat ramp that allows people to easily get their boats onto the lake. Other lakes nearby include Pleasant Lake and Ten Mile Lake. Ten Mile Lake is special because it's the second-deepest natural lake in Minnesota.
The Paul Bunyan State Trail, a popular path for walking and biking, also goes through Hackensack. It follows the eastern shore of Birch Lake.
