Hammondville is a suburb located in south-western Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is about 31 kilometres (19 miles) south-west of the main Sydney city centre. Hammondville is part of the Liverpool area.

How Hammondville Started
Hammondville has an interesting history. It began in 1933 during a tough time called the Great Depression. Many families were struggling to find work and a place to live.
A kind minister named Robert Brodribb Hammond had an idea. He wanted to create a special place for these families. He started the settlement from his church, St Barnabas, in Sydney.
A former senator, George Matthew Foster, also helped out. He worked as a manager and secretary for the new community. The first post office in Hammondville opened on April 15, 1935. Another post office, Hammondville East, opened later but closed in 1983.

Hammondville has many small parks with playgrounds for children. These are great spots for kids to play and for families to relax.
One special place is the Lieutenant Cantello Reserve. It was created in 1988 to remember Lieutenant George Leo Cantello. He was a brave pilot who died in a plane crash while defending Australia on June 8, 1942. The memorial stands on the eastern side of the village.
