Hannah Alper is a young Canadian activist, blogger, and journalist. She started making a big difference in these areas even before she was a teenager. Hannah is known for speaking up about important causes and sharing her ideas with the world.

Who is Hannah Alper?

Hannah Alper was born on August 19, 2013. Her parents are Candace and Eric Alper. In 2020, her family lived in Richmond Hill, Ontario, which is a suburb of Toronto. Hannah is part of the Jewish-Canadian community.

Hannah's Activism Work

Hannah started her blog, Call Me Hannah, in July 2012. On her blog, she wrote about things that mattered to her. These included caring for animals and protecting nature. In less than a year, her blog was viewed over 100,000 times!

By 2020, Hannah also started speaking out against bullying. She promoted "kindraising," which means making the world better through kindness. Her blog became very popular. She gained 40,000 followers on Twitter and 13,000 on Instagram. She even had an interview with famous host George Stroumboulopoulos.

Speaking Up for Change

Hannah has given many motivational speeches. She spoke for an organization called ME to WE. She also worked as an ambassador for Free the Children. Hannah spoke at the World Wildlife Fund's Earth Hour event in Toronto. She even helped schoolchildren raise $975 in pennies for Free the Children.

In 2014, Hannah gave a TEDx talk called "How to find your spark." This speech was viewed more than 2,400 times in less than a week. In 2017, Lilly Singh nominated Hannah for a special list. Hannah was the only teenager on Bloomberg Businessweek's list of 19 people to watch in 2018. By mid-2020, she had given over 400 speeches! She was also chosen as co-president for a youth group called B'nai B'rith Youth Organization in her area.

Hannah's Journalism Career

As a teen journalist, Hannah has written for The Huffington Post. She has interviewed many important people. Some of these include Malala Yousafzai, Craig Kielburger, and Lily Collins.

In 2013, Hannah was the official blogger for the Juno Awards. These awards celebrate Canadian music.

Hannah's Book: Momentus

On November 1, 2017, Hannah released her first book. It is called Momentus: Small Acts, Big Change. The book shares interviews with 19 of her role models. Hannah wrote this book to inspire young people. She wants them to take action and make the changes they wish to see in the world.

Television Appearances

In 2020, Hannah was in the first episode of a TV series. It was called CitizenKids: Earth Comes First. This show was based on a book series. Hannah, along with Cooper Price, Charlene Rocha, and Sophia Mathur, worked on the show. They explored climate change issues from a young person's point of view.
