Hannah Angela Kearney, born on February 26, 1986, is an American freestyle skier. She is famous for her skills in mogul skiing. Hannah won a gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics.

About Hannah Kearney

Hannah Kearney was born in Norwich, Vermont. Her parents are Jill and Tom Kearney. She grew up and still lives in Norwich, Vermont. Hannah went to Hanover High School. Later, she studied at Dartmouth College.

In her free time, Hannah enjoys riding horses and knitting. She also likes to play soccer and read books. Hannah enjoys watching her brother, Denny, play hockey. Her mother grew up in Montreal, Canada. Because of this, Hannah feels "half-Canadian."

Hannah's Skiing Career

Hannah Kearney is a very successful mogul skier. Mogul skiing is a type of freestyle skiing. Skiers go down a bumpy slope called a mogul field. They also perform two jumps.

2006 Winter Olympics

The 2006 Winter Olympics were Hannah's first Olympic Games. Many people thought she would win a gold medal. However, she had a difficult first run. She stumbled after her first jump. This meant she did not make it to the final round.

2010 Winter Olympics

In December 2009, Hannah won the US Olympic trial event. This earned her a spot on the US Team for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

At the 2010 Olympics, Hannah had the best score in the qualifying round. This meant she would be the last skier to compete in the final. Her teammate, Shannon Bahrke, was in second place. A Canadian skier, Jennifer Heil, was in first. Hannah skied a perfect run. She earned a high score of 26.63. This amazing run won her the gold medal!

2014 Winter Olympics

At the 2014 Winter Olympics, Hannah again had the best qualifying score. She was the last skier to go in the final round. Two Canadian sisters, Chloé Dufour-Lapointe and Justine Dufour-Lapointe, were in second and third place. Hannah had a small mistake after her first jump. She still earned a score of 21.49. This score was enough to win her the bronze medal.

World Cup Achievements

Hannah Kearney has won many titles in the World Cup series. The World Cup is a series of international skiing competitions. She has won 10 titles in total. Four of these were for the overall freestyle skiing championship. Six titles were specifically for mogul skiing.
