Hannah Yeoh Tseow Suan (born 9 January 1979) is a Malaysian politician and lawyer. She is currently the Minister of Youth and Sports in Malaysia, a role she has held since December 2022. Before this, she was the Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development from 2018 to 2020.
Hannah Yeoh has been a Member of Parliament (MP) for Segambut since May 2018. She also made history as the 10th Speaker of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly from 2013 to 2018. She was the first woman to hold this important position. She is a member of the Democratic Action Party (DAP).

Hannah Yeoh's Early Life and Education
Hannah Yeoh was born in Subang Jaya, Malaysia. She attended local schools like SK Sri Subang Jaya and SMK Subang Utama. After finishing school, she went to the University of Tasmania in Australia. She earned her law degree there in 2001.
Becoming a Lawyer
In January 2003, Hannah Yeoh became a recognized lawyer by the Malaysian Bar. She was also allowed to practice law in Tasmania. She worked as a lawyer in Petaling Jaya for three years. Later, in 2006, she started working for a company that managed events.
Hannah Yeoh's Journey in Politics
Hannah Yeoh decided to join politics because her schoolmate, Edward Ling, encouraged her. They both joined the Damansara DAP Branch in late 2006. She chose the DAP because she felt their beliefs were very strong and consistent. Even though DAP was an opposition party, she believed in their goals.
Starting a Full-Time Political Career
Hannah Yeoh was inspired by Tony Pua, who was a DAP leader. He left his job to work full-time for the party. Hannah Yeoh followed his example. She resigned from her job shortly before the March 2008 general election. This allowed her to become a full-time politician.
Making History as a Speaker
In the 2008 election, Hannah Yeoh was elected as the Member of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Subang Jaya. She was re-elected in the 2013 election. After her re-election, she became the first female Speaker of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly. At 34 years old, she was also the youngest speaker of any state assembly in Malaysia. This was a big achievement!
Serving in the Malaysian Parliament
In the 2018 general election, Hannah Yeoh was chosen to run for the Segambut federal seat. She won the election and became a Member of Parliament (MP). When her political group formed the government, she was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development. In this role, she helped with policies for women, families, and communities.
Minister of Youth and Sports
Hannah Yeoh was re-elected as the MP for Segambut in the 2022 general election. After the election, she was appointed as the Minister of Youth and Sports in December 2022. This means she is in charge of helping young people and promoting sports in Malaysia.
Supporting Malaysian Athletes
As Minister of Youth and Sports, Hannah Yeoh started a special program called "Road to Gold" (RTG). This program helps train top athletes and Olympians. The goal is to help them win Malaysia's first-ever gold medals at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Some of the famous athletes in this program include badminton players Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, diver Pandelela Rinong, and cyclist Azizulhasni Awang.
Hannah Yeoh's Family Life
Hannah Yeoh has four siblings. She used to be a lawyer and an event manager before becoming a politician. She is married to Ramachandran Muniandy, and they have two daughters named Shay Adora Ram and Kayleigh Imani Ram.
