Hazen is a city located in Mercer County, North Dakota, in the United States. In 2020, about 2,281 people lived there. The city was started in 1913. Hazen has its own school system for all grades, from kindergarten to 12th grade.
Hazen is about a fifteen-minute drive south of Lake Sakakawea. This lake is the biggest in North Dakota. It is also the third largest human-made lake in the entire United States.

History of Hazen
A post office first opened in Hazen in 1885. The town was named after A. D. Hazen, who was an early postmaster there. Hazen was officially planned out in 1913. This happened when the railroad lines were built to reach that area. The Fred Krause House was built in 1916. This house is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Geography of Hazen
Hazen covers a total area of about 1.27 square miles (3.29 square kilometers). All of this area is land. The city does not include any large bodies of water within its official boundaries.
