Healdton is a city located in Carter County, Oklahoma, in the United States. In 2010, about 2,788 people lived there. By 2020, the population was 2,328. Healdton is part of the larger Ardmore area.

History
Healdton got its first post office on February 26, 1883. It was named after Charles H. Heald, a well-known person who lived there. When it was founded, Healdton was in a place called Pickens County, which was part of the Chickasaw Nation. This was before Oklahoma became a state.
Geography
Healdton is in the western part of Carter County. Oklahoma State Highway 76 goes through the city. This highway leads south about 5 miles (8 km) to U.S. Route 70. It also goes north about 5 miles (8 km) to Oklahoma State Highway 53. Ardmore, which is the main city in Carter County, is about 23 miles (37 km) to the east. You can get there by taking OK-76 and US-70.
The United States Census Bureau says that Healdton covers a total area of about 14.38 square miles (37.25 km2). A small part of this area, about 0.27 square miles (0.69 km2), is covered by water.
Healdton also has a lake called Healdton Municipal Lake. It's just northeast of the city. This lake has 7 miles (11 km) of shoreline and covers 370 acres (150 ha) of water.
Oil History
The Healdton Field is an important oil area around Healdton. People found oil here in the early 1900s. A person named Palmer drilled a shallow well in the 1890s. However, at that time, a federal law stopped oil drilling on "Indian lands." So, the official discovery of the oil field is given to Wirt Franklin, who drilled a well in 1913. This oil field helped Healdton grow.
Climate
Healdton has a humid subtropical climate. This means it has hot, humid summers and mild winters. The hottest temperature ever recorded in Healdton was 115 °F (46 °C) on August 2, 1896. The coldest temperature recorded was -17 °F (-27 °C) on February 16, 2021.

- Rue McClanahan, an Emmy Award-winning actress, was born in Healdton.
- Sherri Coale, the former head coach for the University of Oklahoma women's basketball team, is from Healdton.
Places to Visit
The Healdton Oil Museum is located at 10734 Hwy 76. It shows what life was like during the oil boom days in Carter County.
The Healdton Armory is a historic building. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. You can find it at the corner of 4th and Franklin Streets.
Healthcare
Healdton is an important place for medical care in the area. Mercy Hospital Healdton provides hospital services. It helps people in rural parts of Carter, Jefferson, and Stephens Counties in southern Oklahoma.
