The Hit List was a super popular TV show in Canada! It played music videos on YTV, a TV channel especially for kids. The show started way back in 1991. It ran for 14 seasons.
The first six seasons of The Hit List had a host named "Tarzan" Dan Freeman. After him, many other hosts took over. These included Aashna, Leslie, Exan, Rob, and Danielle. The show stopped airing in 2005. It was a big part of Canadian TV for many years.

"Tarzan" Dan Freeman
"Tarzan" Dan Freeman was the first host of The Hit List. He hosted the show for its first six seasons. Before TV, he worked on the radio in Toronto. He was nominated for "Canadian Radio Announcer of the Year" five times. He won this award four times!
Tarzan Dan was also nominated for a Gemini Award. This award was for his work on YTV. He was also nominated for "Best TV Host of a Music Based Show." This was at the Canadian Music Industry Awards. You might have heard him on the radio more recently. He worked at CFGQ-FM in Calgary.
Later Hosts and Their Careers
Danielle McGimsie and Rob Fournier were the last hosts of The Hit List. They kept the show going strong. Danielle McGimsie is now an entertainment reporter. She works for a show called etalk on the CTV Network. She also hosted a show called HypaSpace on the SPACE Channel.
The Hit List Music CDs
When The Hit List was very popular, they released music CDs! YTV and MCA put out two compilation CDs. These came out in 1994 and 1996.
What Was on the CDs?
The CDs featured many different types of music. You could find pop, R&B, rap, and dance songs. These were all songs that played on the show's music countdown. Later, a series called Big Fun Party Mix started. These albums were like a new version of The Hit List CDs. They came out through Universal starting in 2000.
