Hollywell is a lovely coastal suburb located in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. It's a great place to live, right by the water! In 2021 census, about 2,930 people called Hollywell home.

Exploring Hollywell's Location
Hollywell is right next to the Gold Coast Broadwater on its eastern side. This means it has beautiful water views and access to the sea. Most of the land in Hollywell is used for homes. However, a part of the suburb in the southwest is a special natural area. This area is called the Pine Ridge Conservation Park. It's a protected park that stretches south into another suburb called Runaway Bay.
You can also find the Runaway Bay Marina in the southeast part of Hollywell. This is where many boats are kept.
A Look Back at Hollywell's History
Did you know that Hollywell wasn't always called Hollywell? Back in 1926, maps showed this area as "Pine Ridge." While that name isn't official anymore, you can still see it in places like Pine Ridge Road and the Pine Ridge Conservation Park.
The suburb got its current name from a special house. This house belonged to Joseph Wood Proud. He was an important person who served as the Mayor of Southport from 1934 to 1948. Mr. Proud named his home "Hollywell" after his childhood home in England. Later, the whole suburb took on that name!

- If you love boating, you're in luck! There are two boat ramps on Centenary Drive that lead right into the Gold Coast Broadwater. One is near Jasmine Avenue, and the other is close to Holly Avenue. These ramps are managed by the Gold Coast City Council, making it easy for people to launch their boats and enjoy the water.
