Where is Homer Located?
Homer is found in southeastern Minnesota. It's just southeast of the city of Winona. You can reach Homer by following Highways 61 and 14.

A Look at Homer's History
Homer was officially planned out in 1855. It was named after a place called Homer, New York. For many years, from 1855 until 1965, Homer had its own post office.
The Willard Bunnell House is a very old building in Homer. It was built in the 1850s by Willard Bunnell, who was the person who founded Homer. Today, this house is a special museum. It's even listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which means it's an important historical site.

How to Get to Homer
Even though Homer is a small community, it's near important transportation routes.
Train Travel Near Homer
The Empire Builder is a famous Amtrak train. It travels between big cities like Seattle and Portland on one side of the country, and Chicago on the other. This train passes right through Homer on the BNSF train tracks. However, the train does not stop in Homer.
If you want to catch a train, the closest station is in Winona. Winona is about 6 miles (about 10 kilometers) west of Homer.
