Discovering Honwee Mountain

Honwee Mountain is a big part of the Taconic Mountains range. This mountain range stretches across parts of New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont. Honwee Mountain is known for its beautiful forests. These forests are filled with trees like maple, birch, and beech.

Where is Honwee Mountain?

The mountain is split between two towns. The highest part, the east peak, is in Lanesborough. The west peak is in Hancock. There's also a smaller middle summit, about 2,200 feet (670 m) high. It sits between the two main peaks.

There's another interesting part of the mountain called The Pinnacle. It's a spur peak, which means it's a smaller peak that sticks out from the main mountain. The Pinnacle is about 1,710 feet (520 m) tall.

Exploring the Trails

Honwee Mountain has some awesome trails for you to explore. The east summit has the Honwee Circuit multi-use trail. This trail is great for hiking, biking, or even cross-country skiing.

The west summit is crossed by two other trails:

  • The Taconic Crest Trail: This is a long hiking trail, about 35 mi (56 km) in total.
  • The Taconic Skyline Trail: This is a multi-use trail that's about 12.1 mi (19.5 km) long.

These trails offer amazing views and a chance to see the local wildlife.
