The Story of Huddle House
How It Began
Huddle House started in April 1964 in Decatur, Georgia. A person named John Sparks created it. His idea was to open a restaurant that would be open 24 hours a day. The name "Huddle House" comes from the word "huddle" in American football. The first restaurant was a place for fans to eat after a big football game on Friday nights.
Changes in Ownership
Over the years, Huddle House has been owned by different companies.
- In 2006, a company called Allied Capital bought Huddle House.
- Then, in 2009, Ares Capital bought Allied Capital.
- In April 2012, Ares Capital sold Huddle House to Sentinel Capital Partners.
- Later, in February 2018, Sentinel Capital Partners sold Huddle House to Elysium Management.
- On September 12, 2019, Huddle House acquired another restaurant chain called Perkins Restaurant and Bakery.
- In May 2020, Ascent Hospitality Management took over Huddle House. This company was created by Elysium Management.
