Hugh Sheridan (born June 30, 1985) is an Australian actor, singer, and TV presenter. He is well-known for playing Ben Rafter in the TV show Packed to the Rafters. Hugh has won four Logie Awards for Most Popular Actor.

Early Life and Learning
Hugh Sheridan grew up in Adelaide, Australia. His father was a jazz musician and a mayor. His mother and all seven children were very involved in their community. Hugh went to Loreto College and then Saint Ignatius' College.
He started acting at the Unley Youth Theatre when he was five. Later, in 2010, he became a supporter of the group, which was renamed Urban Youth.
When he was 16, Hugh studied advanced dance at Terry Simpson Studios. His teacher suggested he try out for the Australian Ballet School. He was accepted and studied there for two years. While learning dance, he also studied opera at the Victorian College of the Arts.
After leaving the Australian Ballet School, Hugh was accepted into the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney at age 18. In his last year at NIDA, he got the role of Ben Rafter in the TV show Packed to the Rafters.
Acting Career Highlights
2008-2013: Starring in Packed to the Rafters
Hugh Sheridan performed in a play called The Lost Echo with the Sydney Theatre Company. After that, he was cast in the Seven Network TV series Packed to the Rafters. He played the character Ben Rafter.
At the Logie Awards of 2009, Hugh won the award for Most Popular New Male Talent. He was also nominated for other awards. In 2010, he won the Logie Award for Most Popular Actor for his role. He won this award again the next year. In 2011 and 2012, the cast of Packed to the Rafters was nominated for their great teamwork in a drama series. Hugh won the Most Popular Actor award for a third time at the Logie Awards of 2012.
In 2010, Hugh performed in a musical called Newley Discovered in New York City. This musical celebrated the life of British singer-songwriter, Anthony Newley.
In 2011, he was a guest host on The Kyle & Jackie O Show radio program. In 2012, Hugh hosted the TV talent show I Will Survive on Network Ten. He did this during a break from filming Packed to the Rafters.
2014-2017: Other TV Roles
In 2014, Hugh played Garry Gary Beers, the guitarist for the band INXS, in the TV miniseries INXS: Never Tear Us Apart.
In 2015, he starred as Toby, an artist, in the ABC TV miniseries The Divorce.
In 2017, he joined the main cast of the TV show House Husbands on Nine Network. He played Nick Gazecki and acted alongside Delta Goodrem.
2018-Present: New Shows and Stage Work
In 2019, Hugh began starring as Lachlan Best in the comedy-drama series Five Bedrooms on Network 10. He was in the first two seasons and returned for the fourth and final season in 2023.
In 2019, he appeared in the Australian horror film Dark Place. This movie was shown at the Melbourne International Film Festival.
In 2021, Hugh reunited with the Packed to the Rafters cast for Back to the Rafters on Amazon Prime Video. For this role, he was nominated for Most Outstanding Supporting Actor at the Logie Awards of 2022.
In March 2021, Hugh debuted his stage show called Hughman at the Adelaide Fringe festival.
In 2022, Hugh Sheridan was a contestant on The Masked Singer Australia. He was known as Rooster and finished in third place.
In 2023, Hugh played the main role of Jonathan Larson in the musical Tick, Tick...Boom! in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney.
Music Career
In 2009, Hugh released his album Speak Love. It reached number 86 on the Australian music charts. He has also released singles like "Just Can't Throw Us Away", "All About Me", and "Speak Love".
Before 2015, Hugh and his friends Emile Welman and Gabe Roland formed a singing group called California Crooners Club. They loved jazz music and started the group in Los Angeles. The California Crooners Club has performed at the Adelaide Fringe festival several times (2015, 2019, 2020) and received good reviews. They also performed at the Brisbane Festival in 2016 and 2018.
Other Activities
In 2010, Hugh Sheridan became a patron of the Urban Myth Theatre of Youth. This means he supports and helps the youth theatre group.
In 2017, he was chosen as one of three Fringe Ambassadors for the Adelaide Fringe festival.
Personal Life
Hugh Sheridan was married to Venezuelan actor Rafael de la Fuente from 2009 to 2018. On March 5, 2021, Hugh proposed to his boyfriend Kurt Roberts during the opening night of his Hughman stage show. They announced their separation in November 2021.
He has been close friends with his Packed to the Rafters co-star, Jessica Marais, since they studied together at NIDA. He was also friends with Rebel Wilson.
