Hugh Sheridan (born 30 June 1985) is an Australian actor, singer, and television presenter. He is well-known for playing Ben Rafter in the TV show Packed to the Rafters. Hugh has won four Logie Awards for Most Popular Actor.

Early Life and Education
Hugh Sheridan grew up in Adelaide, Australia. His father, Denis Sheridan, was a jazz musician. His mother, Margaret, and all seven children in the family were active in their community.
Hugh started acting classes at the Unley Youth Theatre when he was 5 years old. Later, he became a supporter of this theatre group.
When he was 16, he studied advanced dance in Adelaide. His teacher suggested he try out for the Australian Ballet School, and he was accepted. While studying dance there, he also studied opera.
After leaving the ballet school, Hugh was accepted into the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in Sydney. He was 18 at the time. In his last year at NIDA, he got the role of Ben Rafter in the TV show Packed to the Rafters.
Career Highlights
Starting Out: Packed to the Rafters (2008-2013)
Hugh Sheridan first performed in a play called The Lost Echo with the Sydney Theatre Company. After that, he was chosen to play Ben Rafter in the Seven Network TV series Packed to the Rafters.
At the Logie Awards of 2009, he won the award for Most Popular New Male Talent. He also won the Logie Award for Most Popular Actor in 2010, 2011, and 2012 for his role in the show.
In 2010, Hugh performed in a musical called Newley Discovered in New York City. This musical celebrated the life of British singer-songwriter, Anthony Newley.
Hugh also hosted the Network Ten talent show I Will Survive in 2012. This was during a break from filming Packed to the Rafters.
Other TV Shows and Films (2014-Present)
In 2014, Hugh played Garry Gary Beers, the guitarist for the band INXS, in a TV miniseries called INXS: Never Tear Us Apart.
He also starred in the TV miniseries The Divorce in 2015. In 2017, he joined the cast of House Husbands, playing Nick Gazecki. He acted alongside Delta Goodrem in this show.
From 2019, Hugh starred in the comedy-drama series Five Bedrooms as Lachlan Best. He was in the first two seasons and returned for the final season in 2023.
In 2019, he appeared in an Australian horror film called Dark Place.
In 2020, Hugh was cast in the Australian production of a musical called Hedwig and the Angry Inch. However, the show was cancelled due to concerns about the casting.
In 2021, Hugh reunited with the Packed to the Rafters cast for a new show called Back to the Rafters on Amazon Prime Video. He was nominated for an award for his role in this show.
In 2022, Hugh was a contestant on The Masked Singer Australia. He was the character Rooster and finished in third place.
In 2023, Hugh played the main role of Jonathan Larson in the musical Tick, Tick...Boom! in several Australian cities.
Music Career
In 2009, Hugh released his album Speak Love. It reached number 86 on the Australian music charts. He has also released singles like "Just Can't Throw Us Away" and "All About Me".
Before 2015, Hugh and his friends Emile Welman and Gabe Roland formed a singing group called California Crooners Club. They loved jazz music and started the group in Los Angeles. The group has performed at the Adelaide Fringe festival many times and at the Brisbane Festival. Their shows have received good reviews and often sold out.
Other Roles
In 2010, Hugh Sheridan became a patron of the Urban Myth Theatre of Youth. This means he supports the theatre group.
In 2017, he was chosen as one of three Fringe Ambassadors for the Adelaide Fringe festival.
Personal Life
Hugh Sheridan was married from 2009 to 2018. In March 2021, he proposed to his boyfriend Kurt Roberts during his stage show Hughman. They announced their separation in November 2021.
Hugh is close friends with his Packed to the Rafters co-star, Jessica Marais. They studied together at NIDA. He was also friends with Rebel Wilson and introduced her to her wife, Ramona Agruma.
