Ida Township is a civil township located in Monroe County, Michigan. It's a part of the United States. In 2020, about 4,783 people lived here. The township was officially started in 1837. It was named after a local leader, Ida M. Taylor.

Exploring Ida Township's Communities
Ida Township is home to several smaller communities. These areas are often called "unincorporated communities." This means they don't have their own separate local government.
Discovering Federman
- Federman was a community with its own railway station. This station was important because it connected two major train lines. These were the Ann Arbor Railroad and the New York Central lines. Federman even had its own post office for a short time, from 1899 to 1906.
Learning About Ida and Ida Center
- Ida is an unincorporated community found on the northern edge of the township. For the 2020 census, Ida was recognized as a new "census-designated place." This helps track its population.
- Ida Center is another unincorporated community. It's located right in the middle of the township. You can find it where Ida Center Road and Lewis Avenue meet.
Uncovering Lulu's History
- Lulu is an unincorporated community located northwest of the township center. In 1853, Henry West bought a large piece of land here. Lulu also had a train depot along the Toledo and Ann Arbor Railroad. A post office opened in Lulu in 1880 and closed in 1941. Today, the railway still runs through Lulu, but there is no longer a train station.
Understanding Yargerville
- Yargerville is an unincorporated community on the eastern side of Ida Township. It's located near the border with La Salle Township. Yargerville also had its own post office from 1890 to 1906.

Ida Township is located in the central part of Monroe County. It is about 11 miles west-southwest of Monroe, which is the main city of the county. The township covers a total area of about 36.92 square miles. Most of this area, about 36.75 square miles, is land. The rest, about 0.17 square miles, is water.

Education in Ida Township
Most students in Ida Township attend Ida Public Schools. All three schools in this district are located on one campus. This campus is near the center of the Ida community. Ida Public Schools also serves small parts of nearby townships.
A small section of western Ida Township is served by Summerfield Schools. These schools are located in Summerfield Township.
Previously, St. Anthony School was in Temperance. This school, part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit, also served students from Ida Township.
