Immanuel Jaylen Quickley (born June 17, 1999) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Toronto Raptors in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Quickley played college basketball for the Kentucky Wildcats. He was chosen by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the first round of the 2020 NBA draft.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Immanuel Quickley grew up loving basketball. He went to The John Carroll School for high school. During his sophomore year, he was a standout player. He scored 17.7 points, grabbed 3.9 rebounds, and made 2.9 assists per game.
Quickley made a game-winning three-pointer in the Baltimore Catholic League championship. This shot helped his team win 51–50. He was named the All-Metro Player of the Year. In his junior year, he averaged 23.7 points and 7.2 assists per game. He was also named to the First Team All-Metro.
As a senior, Quickley continued to shine. He scored 19 points in a big game at the HoopHall Classic. He averaged 20.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 6.7 assists, and 3.7 steals per game. He led his team to win the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference title. Quickley was also chosen as a McDonald's All-American. This means he was one of the best high school basketball players in the country.
Choosing a College
After high school, Quickley had to pick a college. By August 2017, he had narrowed his choices to three top schools: Kansas, Kentucky, and Miami. He was a highly-rated player. Rivals ranked him 22nd, and ESPN ranked him 25th. On September 22, 2017, Quickley decided to commit to Kentucky.
College Basketball Career
Quickley played for the Kentucky Wildcats for two years. As a freshman, he averaged 5.2 points per game. He also had 1.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
In his second year, Quickley improved a lot. He scored 16 points against Eastern Kentucky in November 2019. He also had 18 points in an exciting overtime win against rival Louisville. Quickley scored a career-high 30 points against Texas A&M. He made eight three-pointers in that game.
At the end of his sophomore season, Quickley was named the SEC Player of the Year. This is a big award for college players. He also made the SEC First Team. He averaged 16.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game that season. After his successful sophomore year, Quickley decided to enter the 2020 NBA draft.
Professional Basketball Career
New York Knicks (2020–2023)
The Oklahoma City Thunder picked Immanuel Quickley as the 25th player in the 2020 NBA draft. Soon after, he was traded to the New York Knicks. He officially signed with the Knicks on November 28, 2020.
Quickley made his NBA debut on December 23, 2020. He scored five points before leaving the game due to an injury. He returned to play on January 2, 2021. He scored nine points in a win against the Indiana Pacers.
On April 3, 2022, Quickley achieved his first career "triple-double." This means he had 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in one game. This helped the Knicks win against the Orlando Magic.
Quickley continued to improve. On March 5, 2023, he scored a career-high 38 points. This was in a double-overtime win against the Boston Celtics. Later that month, on March 27, he set a new career high with 40 points. This helped the Knicks win against the Houston Rockets. Quickley finished second in the voting for the Sixth Man of the Year Award that year. This award goes to the best player who usually comes off the bench.
Toronto Raptors (2024–present)
On December 30, 2023, Quickley was traded to the Toronto Raptors. He moved to Toronto along with RJ Barrett. In return, the Knicks received OG Anunoby and other players.
On March 7, 2024, Quickley had a new career high of 18 assists. He also scored 21 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in a game against the Phoenix Suns. This was almost another triple-double!
On April 5, 2024, Quickley helped the Raptors end a long losing streak. He scored 25 points in a win against the Milwaukee Bucks. On July 8, 2024, Quickley signed a new 5-year contract to stay with the Raptors.
During the 2024–25 NBA season, Quickley faced some injuries. He played in 33 games and had limited playing time in many of them.
National Team Career
Immanuel Quickley has also played for the U.S. national under-19 team. He played in the 2017 FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup. His coach for that team was John Calipari, who also coached him at Kentucky.
