Indian Paintbrush Book Award facts for kids
The Indian Paintbrush Book Award is a cool award given every year to books that kids in Wyoming pick as their favorites! Students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades get to nominate books and then vote on them. This award first started way back in 1986. The Wyoming Library Association and the Wyoming State Reading Council work together to make this award happen.
What is the Indian Paintbrush Book Award?
This award is all about letting young readers decide which books are the best. It encourages kids to read and discover new stories. It's a great way for students to have a voice in what books get recognized!
How Books Are Chosen
There are a few simple rules for books to be considered for the Indian Paintbrush Book Award:
- The book can be either fiction (made-up stories) or nonfiction (true stories).
- It must have been published in the last two years and still be available to buy.
- Any student can suggest a book they think is great.
- A book cannot be nominated two years in a row.
- If an author wins the award, their books cannot be on the list for the very next year. This helps new authors get a chance!
