About Isabel Pantoja's Life
Isabel Pantoja grew up in a family of musicians. Her father and grandfather were both singers.
Isabel started singing very young, at age seven. She joined a flamenco group with her cousin. When she was 17, she met Juan Solano Pedrero. He helped write her first popular songs. Isabel helped make 'copla' music popular again. This music style was not as popular at the time. Some of her early hits were "El Pájaro Verde" and "Garlochí".
In 1983, she released her first pop album. It was called Cambiar por ti. This album included songs like "En la Niebla". From then on, Isabel sang both ballads and 'copla' songs.
On April 30, 1983, Isabel married a bullfighter. His name was Francisco Rivera Pérez, also known as "Paquirri". Their wedding was a very big event in Spain. They were both famous and seen as a romantic Spanish couple.
Sadly, on September 26, 1984, Paquirri died in the bullring. Isabel became known as "Spain's widow" in the news. She was often on the cover of magazines. After taking a break, she released a new album. It was called Marinero de Luces. This album sold one million copies in Spain.
In 1988, she released Desde Andalucía. A famous Mexican singer, Juan Gabriel, produced this album. In 1989, she released Se me enamora el alma. This album was very popular and had modern beats.
In the 1990s, Isabel Pantoja also acted in movies. She starred in Yo soy ésa in 1990. A year later, she was in another film, El día que nací yo.
Isabel Pantoja has released many albums. She has also toured a lot. She has performed in Spain and many countries in Latin America.
Isabel Pantoja's Family

Isabel's husband, the bullfighter Francisco Rivera Pérez ("Paquirri"), passed away. He was 36 years old when he died in the bullring. This happened on September 26, 1984, in Pozoblanco.
Isabel Pantoja and Paquirri had a son. His name is Francisco José Rivera Pantoja. He was born on February 9, 1984. People often call him Kiko Rivera or "Paquirrín".
Isabel also has a daughter. Her name is María Isabel Pantoja Martín, just like Isabel. She was born on November 8, 1995, in Lima, Peru. Isabel adopted her in 1996. People often call her Isa Pantoja or "Chabelita". Both of Isabel's children have appeared on reality shows.
Legal Matters
Isabel Pantoja faced some legal issues. In 2013, she was found to be involved with her ex-boyfriend, Julián Muñoz. He had been accused of certain financial crimes. He was the mayor of Marbella at the time.
Isabel was found responsible and given a two-year prison sentence. She agreed to pay a large amount of money. She hoped this would help her avoid jail time.
However, in November 2014, a court in Málaga decided she had to go to prison. This news was widely covered in Spain and Latin America. She served about 15 months. She was released from custody in February 2016.
