Isabelle Fuhrman (born February 25, 1997) is an American actress. She is well-known for her main role as Esther in the scary movie Orphan (2009) and its follow-up Orphan: First Kill (2022). She also played Clove in the adventure film The Hunger Games (2012). More recently, she starred as Alex in the independent film The Novice (2021) and Diamond in the Western movie series Horizon: An American Saga (2024–present).

Early Life and Education
Isabelle Fuhrman was born in Washington, D.C.. Her mother, Elina Fuhrman, is a journalist and author. Her father, Nick Fuhrman, is a business consultant. Isabelle has an older sister. Her family moved to Atlanta in 1999.
Isabelle went to the Buckley School for high school. She also studied briefly at the RADA and The Westminster Schools. She finished her schooling at Stanford Online High School in 2015.
Acting Career Highlights
Isabelle Fuhrman started acting when she was seven years old. A casting director from Cartoon Network noticed her, and she was cast in a show called Cartoon Fridays.
Early Roles and Breakthrough
Her first TV role was in 2006 in the show Justice. She also appeared in commercials for brands like Pizza Hut. In 2007, she made her first movie appearance in Hounddog.
In 2008, Isabelle was in an episode of Ghost Whisperer. Her performance earned her a Young Artist Award nomination. Later that year, she was chosen for the lead role in the movie Orphan. This movie was released in 2009 and was very successful. People praised Isabelle's acting in it. She also appeared in funny skits on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Movies and Voice Acting
In 2011, Isabelle played Angie Vanderveer in the movie Salvation Boulevard. This film was shown at the Sundance Film Festival.
In 2012, Isabelle voiced a character named Victoria in the video game Hitman: Absolution. That same year, she played Clove in The Hunger Games. Clove is a tough character who tries to defeat the main hero, Katniss. Isabelle had first tried out for the role of Katniss, but she was too young. She then got the part of Clove.
In 2013, Isabelle was cast as Max in the movie Dear Eleanor, which came out in 2016. In 2014, she was in the film Cell, based on a book by Stephen King.
Recent Successes
In 2021, Isabelle Fuhrman starred as Alex in the movie The Novice. Her acting in this film received a lot of praise. Critics called her performance "the year's best." For The Novice, she won the Tribeca Film Festival Award for Best Actress. She was also nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead.
In 2020, it was announced that Isabelle would play Esther again in a new Orphan movie. This film, called Orphan: First Kill, was released in August 2022. Her performance was again highly praised.
In September 2022, Isabelle joined the cast of the Western movie Horizon: An American Saga, directed by Kevin Costner. She also joined the film Face, directed by Justine Bateman.
Isabelle starred as Charlotte in the movie Wish You Were Here alongside Mena Massoud. This romance drama was released on January 17, 2025.
Helping Others
Isabelle Fuhrman has also used her platform to help others. In 2010, she became an advocate for Save the Children's "Caps for Good" project. She helped knit baby caps to help reduce the number of newborn deaths in developing countries. Isabelle is also on the advisory board for the Love & Art Kids Foundation, a non-profit group in Los Angeles.
