Isla Gibraleón is a small island in Panama. It is part of the Pearl Islands group, which is called Archipielago de las Perlas in Spanish. This island is located in the Gulf of Panama.
Isla Gibraleón is about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) west of Isla Casaya. It is one of more than 200 islands and tiny islets in the Pearl Islands. Many of these islands are very small and no one lives on them. They are about 48 kilometers (30 miles) off the Pacific coast of Panama.
The island has a coastline of about 8 kilometers (5 miles). It features five beaches and a mangrove swamp. Most of the island, about 62 hectares (153 acres), is covered in thick jungle. Isla Gibraleón has a total area of 112.35 hectares (277.62 acres). This makes it the 12th largest island in its archipelago. The highest point on the island is about 11 meters (36 feet) above sea level. Isla Gibraleón is in the Eastern Time Zone (UTC−05:00).

Island Weather: A Look at Isla Gibraleón's Climate
The weather on Isla Gibraleón is mostly controlled by something called the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). Sailors sometimes call this area "the doldrums" because the winds can be very calm.
March is usually the warmest month on the island. The average temperature is about 32.5°C (90.5°F). January is the coolest month, with night temperatures averaging around 21.9°C (71.4°F).
Because Isla Gibraleón is close to the equator, it does not have the usual four seasons like spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Instead, it has a wet season and a dry season. The ITCZ moves throughout the year. When it is over or slightly north of Panama, the island has its wet season. This lasts from May to December. During this time, there are light, changing winds and a lot of rain.
The dry season is from January to April. This happens when the ITCZ is south of Panama. The dry season has clear skies and winds that mostly come from the northeast Caribbean.
The island's location in the Pearl Islands protects it from the strong effects of El Niño. This allows the ocean waters around the island to stay warm. The water is usually between 28°C and 29°C (82°F and 84°F) during the wet season. These warm waters help many amazing sea creatures to grow and thrive. You can find whale and tiger sharks, sperm whales, sea turtles, angel rays, and large groups of fish here.
