NSYNC has sold over 70 million records worldwide. This makes them one of the best-selling boy bands ever. After NSYNC took a break in 2002, Chasez released his first solo song, "Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)". His first solo album, Schizophrenic, came out in 2004. Chasez has also written and produced songs for many other artists. These include Liam Payne, Backstreet Boys, and Sugababes. He was also a judge on the first seven seasons of America's Best Dance Crew.

Early Life and Childhood
JC Chasez was born on August 8, 1976, in Bowie, Maryland. When he was five years old, his biological mother asked her former foster parents, Roy and Karen Chasez, to care for him. They adopted him and raised him along with his younger siblings, Tyler and Heather. His adoptive parents worked as a technology consultant and an editor. Chasez went to Robert Goddard Middle School and then Bowie High School.
Career Highlights
As a child, Chasez was very shy. However, he loved to dance and joined competitive dance groups. When he was 13, a friend dared him to enter a talent contest. He won first place by singing "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx.
In 1989, his mother saw an advertisement for auditions. It was for Disney Channel's new The Mickey Mouse Club show. She encouraged Chasez to try out. Chasez was chosen for the fourth season. He used his initials "JC" because another cast member was also named Josh. He was on the show from 1991 to 1995. During this time, he became friends with Justin Timberlake. He also performed with Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, and Ryan Gosling. The show was cancelled in 1995.
Becoming a Star with NSYNC (1995–2002)
JC Chasez and Justin Timberlake became the two main singers of the boy band NSYNC. Chris Kirkpatrick formed the group in 1995. They started recording and performing in Europe the next year. In 1998, the band released their first album, *NSYNC. It sold 11 million copies and made them very popular in the United States.
After some legal problems with their manager, Lou Pearlman, they signed with Jive Records. In 2000, they released their second album, No Strings Attached. This album sold 2.4 million copies in its first week. This made it the fastest-selling album of all time for a while. Adele later broke this record in 2015 with her album 25. Popular songs from No Strings Attached included "Bye Bye Bye" and "It's Gonna Be Me".
The band released their third album, Celebrity, in 2001. It sold 1.8 million copies in its first week. After their Celebrity Tour in 2002, NSYNC decided to take a break. The band never officially broke up, but the members have said they do not plan to record new music together.
Solo Music and New Projects (2002–2007)
While still in NSYNC, Chasez sang on a remix of the song "Bring It All to Me" by the group Blaque. During his time with the band, Chasez also started writing and producing songs for NSYNC and other artists.
During NSYNC's break, Chasez continued to write and produce music. Producer Dallas Austin asked Chasez to record the song "Blowin' Me Up (With Her Love)" for the Drumline movie soundtrack. This song was later released as a single. Chasez then started working on his own solo album with Jive Records. He wrote and produced some songs himself, and also worked with other producers.
His first solo album, Schizophrenic, was released in February 2004. The promotion for his album was affected by a controversy involving his former bandmate Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson at the Super Bowl halftime show. Because of this, Chasez was not allowed to perform at the 2004 Pro Bowl.
Around the same time, Chasez sang on the Basement Jaxx song, "Plug It In". This song reached number one on the UK Dance Charts. After Schizophrenic, Chasez began working on his second album, called The Story of Kate. His former NSYNC bandmate, Justin Timberlake, helped produce some songs for this album. Timberlake said that JC had the best voice in NSYNC.
The Story of Kate was supposed to be released in 2006, but it was delayed. Two songs, "Until Yesterday" and "You Ruined Me," were released online. Chasez performed new songs on TV shows like Ghost Whisperer and Las Vegas. However, the album was never officially released. Chasez and Jive Records decided to part ways in September 2007.
Judging, Songwriting, and NSYNC Reunions (2008–2024)
Even though The Story of Kate was not released, Chasez kept working as a songwriter and producer. He wrote songs for artists like David Archuleta and Backstreet Boys. In 2008, he became a judge on Randy Jackson's America's Best Dance Crew on MTV. He was a judge for the first seven seasons of the show.
In 2010, a song called "IF U C Kate," which Chasez helped write, was on the British band McFly's album, Above the Noise. Chasez also wrote and produced two songs for AJ McLean's first album, Have It All, released in 2011.
In 2012, Chasez and producer Jimmy Harry held auditions for an all-girl group. This group, called Girl Radical, was formed in November 2012. It had eleven members and was inspired by large Asian pop groups.
NSYNC performed together again for the first time in 2013. This was at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. They performed to celebrate Justin Timberlake winning a special award.
In 2014, Chasez was chosen to play Pontius Pilate in the North American tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar. Other famous artists were also in the cast. However, the tour was suddenly cancelled in May 2014 because not enough tickets were sold.
Chasez was featured on a new version of "My Girl" with Smokey Robinson in 2014. In 2015, he appeared on the Blues Traveler album Blow Up the Moon. In 2016, Chasez acted in the film Opening Night, playing a version of himself.
In April 2019, Chasez and bandmates Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick performed with Ariana Grande at the Coachella music festival.
In January 2023, Chasez was a guest on Lance Bass' podcast. He shared that he is working on a musical.
On September 12, 2023, all five members of NSYNC appeared together at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. They presented an award to Taylor Swift. On September 14, it was confirmed that the group recorded a new song called "Better Place." This song is for the DreamWorks Animation film Trolls Band Together. The song was released on September 29, 2023. It was the group's first new song in 22 years.
New Musical Project (2024–Present)
On March 13, 2024, NSYNC reunited and performed live at Justin Timberlake's "One Night Only" show in Los Angeles. They performed their new song "Paradise" and other hits like "Bye Bye Bye." This was the first time all five NSYNC members performed together since the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. "Paradise" is on Timberlake's album Everything I Thought It Was.
On October 25, 2024, Chasez released Playing With Fire. This is a musical concept album that he produced with Jimmy Harry. The album is inspired by Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. It features Chasez's singing along with other singers.
