Early Life and Work
Jack Fellure was born in Midkiff, West Virginia, in 1931. His parents were Ellis Elwin and Bessie Jean Fellure. He went to school in nearby Salt Rock. He finished high school in Barboursville in 1949.
After high school, Fellure went to Marshall College, which is now Marshall University. He became a teacher after he graduated. Later in his career, he worked many different jobs. He ended up as a field engineer for General Electric. He retired from this job in 1991. He also served as a minister for various churches.
Presidential Campaigns
Fellure ran for President of the United States in every election since 1988. He was usually a member of the Republican Party. He said his campaign ideas were always based on the King James Version of the Bible.
In 1992, Fellure tried to run in the Republican primary elections. These are elections where people vote to choose their party's candidate. He spent his own money on his campaign. He even sent a copy of the King James Bible to the government election group as his platform. He received 36 votes in the New Hampshire primary. He felt that other candidates got more attention from the news.
During the 1996 presidential election, he ran for the Republican nomination again. He appeared on the primary ballot in Puerto Rico and got 34 votes. In the main election, he received one write-in vote in Idaho.
Fellure also ran for president in 2000. However, his name did not appear on any primary ballots that year. In 2004, he challenged the president at the time, George W. Bush, for the Republican nomination. Fellure was the only candidate to appear with Bush in the North Dakota caucus. He received 14 votes there.
2012 Campaign for President
After running in 2008, Fellure first tried to get the Republican nomination for the 2012 election. When he did not get much attention, he decided to try for the nomination of the Prohibition Party. This party believes in banning alcohol.
Fellure was chosen as the presidential candidate for the Prohibition Party. This happened at their national meeting in Cullman, Alabama. Toby Davis was chosen as his running mate, who would become vice president if they won. Their names were only on the ballot in Louisiana. They received 518 votes on Election Day.
Later Campaigns
In November 2012, Fellure filed to run for the Republican Party's 2016 presidential nomination. He was not successful. In November 2016, he filed to run for the party's 2020 presidential nomination. Again, his name did not appear on any state ballots.
In 2021, Fellure talked about his many campaigns. He said that people either really liked or completely rejected his ideas based on the Bible. He felt there was no in-between.
