Jagüey is a special area, like a neighborhood or county, in the town of Aguada, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 1,995 people lived there. It's located on the western side of Aguada, right next to the town of Rincón.
History of Jagüey
After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a special agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898 in 1898. Puerto Rico then became an unincorporated territory of the U.S. This means it's a part of the U.S. but doesn't have all the same rights as a state.
In 1899, the United States Department of War counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. They found that Jagüey and a nearby area called Atalaya had a combined population of 1,195 people.
