Jaime Manuel Penedo Cano, born on September 26, 1981, is a famous former football player from Panama. He played as a goalkeeper for many teams. Some of these teams include Osasuna B, CSD Municipal, LA Galaxy, Deportivo Saprissa, and Dinamo București.
Penedo was also the goalkeeper for the Panama national team. He was part of the very first Panama squad to play in a World Cup. Jaime Penedo officially stopped playing football on January 24, 2019.

Playing for Clubs
Starting His Career in Panama
Jaime Penedo started his football journey with Estudiantes de Panamá F.C. He made his first appearance for their main team in the year 2000. He also played for other teams in Panama, such as Plaza Amador and Árabe Unido.
During his first season with Árabe Unido, Penedo helped his team win two league titles. These were the apertura and clausura titles.
Moving to Europe and Central America
In 2005, Penedo almost joined an Italian club called Cagliari. However, the deal did not go through because of some medical exam issues. The next year, he moved to Spain to play for Osasuna B. This team played in a league called Segunda División B.
After one season in Spain, Penedo returned to Central America. He signed with Municipal in Guatemala. While playing for Municipal, Penedo helped his team win four league titles.
Playing in the United States
On August 5, 2013, Jaime Penedo joined the LA Galaxy team. He was a goalkeeper who had won a bronze medal at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2015. Penedo played his first game for LA Galaxy on August 7, 2013. This was a friendly match against AC Milan.
Penedo and the LA Galaxy decided to end his contract on July 29, 2015.
Playing for His Country
Early International Matches
Penedo first played for the Panama national team in June 2003. He came into the game as a substitute. Panama won that match 1–0 against Cuba.
He played in 26 matches that were part of the FIFA World Cup qualification games. Penedo was also a key player for Panama in the 2005 and 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments. In both of these tournaments, Panama finished in second place.
Winning the Golden Glove Award
Jaime Penedo won the Golden Glove award at the 2005 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He also won it again at the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. This award is given to the best goalkeeper in the tournament. It shows how skilled he was as a player.
Playing in the World Cup
In 2018, Penedo was chosen to be part of Panama's 23-player team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. This was a very big moment for Panama football. He played as the starting goalkeeper in all three of Panama's matches during the World Cup.
After the World Cup, he announced that he would no longer play for the national team.

Personal Life
Jaime Penedo married Angie Malca in August 2013. They also had a church wedding in January 2015. They have a son named Jaime Matías.
