Jaime Manuel Penedo Cano, born on September 26, 1981, is a famous former football player from Panama. He was a talented goalkeeper for many teams, including LA Galaxy and Dinamo București. Jaime Penedo also played for the Panama national team. He was the goalkeeper for Panama's first-ever team to play in a FIFA World Cup. Penedo stopped playing professional football on January 24, 2019.

Playing for Football Clubs
Jaime Penedo started his football journey with Estudiantes de Panamá F.C. He played his first senior team game in the year 2000. He also played for other teams in Panama, like Plaza Amador and Árabe Unido.
With Árabe Unido, Penedo helped his team win two league titles in his first season. In 2005, he almost joined an Italian club called Cagliari, but it didn't work out. The next year, he moved to Spain to play for Osasuna B.
After playing in Spain for one season, Penedo went back to Central America. He signed with Municipal in Guatemala. During his time with Municipal, Penedo helped them win four league titles.
Time with LA Galaxy
On August 5, 2013, Penedo joined the LA Galaxy team. He made his first appearance for the Galaxy on August 7, 2013. This was during a friendly match against AC Milan. Penedo and the LA Galaxy decided to end his contract on July 29, 2015.
Playing for Panama
Penedo first played for the Panama national team in June 2003. He came on as a substitute in a game against Cuba, which Panama won 1–0. By July 11, 2015, he had played 122 games for his country.
He played in 26 World Cup qualification matches. He was also part of the Panamanian team that finished second in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2005 and 2013. Penedo won the Golden Glove award at both the 2005 and 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. This award is given to the best goalkeeper in the tournament.
World Cup Appearance
In 2018, Jaime Penedo was chosen for Panama's 23-player team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He played as the starting goalkeeper in all three of Panama's matches. After the World Cup, he announced that he would no longer play for the national team.

Personal Life
Jaime Penedo officially married Angie Malca in August 2013. They had a church wedding in January 2015. They have a son named Jaime Matías.
