James and Oliver Phelps are identical twin brothers from England. They are famous actors and also host podcasts. Many people know them for playing the mischievous twin brothers, Fred and George Weasley, in all the Harry Potter movies. They worked on these films from 2001 to 2011 and have continued to work together on many other exciting projects since then.

Early Lives of the Phelps Twins
James and Oliver Phelps were born in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham, England, on February 25, 1986. Their parents are Susan and Martyn Phelps. Oliver is the older twin, born 13 minutes before James. As they grew up, the twins went to Little Sutton Primary School. They also attended the Arthur Terry Secondary School. While filming the Harry Potter movies, they had tutors who taught them right on the film set.
Acting Careers of James and Oliver
In 2000, James and Oliver decided to try out for a movie role. Even though they had never acted before, they went to an open audition in Leeds. After about six auditions, they were chosen to play Fred and George Weasley in the first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
At their very first script reading, James was given the part of Fred. Oliver was given the part of George. They played these popular characters in all eight Harry Potter films.
Other Projects and Appearances
Besides acting, James also worked behind the scenes. He was a runner on the set of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. He also worked on the movie The Da Vinci Code.
In 2009, the twins appeared together in a TV show called Kingdom. They played brothers in one episode. In 2012, they starred in a short film called A Mind's Eye. This film was about the ideas of a famous thinker named Plato. They also helped direct a film called Journey along the Thames. This film was shown during the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Summer Olympics.
The twins have also been involved with the Harry Potter Exhibition. They were there when it first opened in Chicago in 2009. Later, they traveled to many different cities and countries to help promote the exhibition.
In January 2014, James and Oliver went to the Harry Potter Celebration in Orlando, Florida. Other Harry Potter actors like Evanna Lynch, Matthew Lewis, and Devon Murray were also there. They even did a live online chat. During the chat, they answered questions from fans. They also talked about new parts of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
In 2024, the twins hosted a cooking competition show. It was called Harry Potter: Wizards of Baking. This show, based on the Harry Potter world, had six parts. It aired on Food Network.
The Phelps Twins' Podcast
James and Oliver have a popular podcast that you can find on YouTube. It's also available on many streaming services like Spotify and iTunes. The first season of their podcast started in 2017. In this season, James and Oliver talked about their past travels.
The second season of their podcast came out in 2020. This was during a time when many people were staying home. In this season, the twins interviewed different guests. They also shared stories about their own lives.
In 2021, they launched a third season called "Normal Not Normal." For this season, they worked with a company called Stabl production. This made the podcast more organized and professionally put together. In "Normal Not Normal," they talk about what "normal" really means. They wonder if it even exists. They have interviewed many famous people. These include Sasha Banks, Tom Hopper, and Mara Wilson. They also talked with their former Harry Potter co-stars. Some of these guests were Katie Leung, Evanna Lynch, and Alfie Enoch.
Charity Work and Family Life
James and Oliver Phelps care about helping others. In January 2003, they helped plant trees at the National Forest in Leicestershire. They planted birch and ash trees. These are the same types of wood that were used to make the broomsticks in the Harry Potter films.
The twins support several charities. They are big supporters of the Teenage Cancer Trust. They also help with the "Celebrity World Cup Soccer Six" event. They have supported the Virgin Money Giving drive. In Australia, they have helped Cancer Research UK.
Oliver Phelps married Katy Humpage in 2015. They have two daughters. James Phelps married Annika Ostle in 2016.
