When Jamie was born, his father worked as a management consultant. Jamie has five brothers and one sister, who is also an actress named Anastasia Griffith.

In 1994, Jamie appeared in a student film called Shifting Sands.

Acting Career

Starring in Battlestar Galactica

Starting in 2003, Jamie Bamber played Lee 'Apollo' Adama in the new Battlestar Galactica. This show began as a short series and then became a full TV show in 2004. It was shown on the US Sci Fi Channel, which is now called Syfy.

The show was very popular and won many awards. Jamie was even nominated for an award for his acting in Battlestar Galactica in 2004. In the show, Jamie spoke with an American accent. People often say his accent was very accurate. He learned it from his father, who is American. He also dyed his hair darker to look more like Edward James Olmos, who played his character's father.

Jamie wrote the introduction for a book about Battlestar Galactica. He said that good drama helps us understand things we normally wouldn't. He was proud that Battlestar Galactica explored deep ideas about people and politics.

It was during a break from Ultimate Force that he went to Los Angeles and got the role in Battlestar Galactica.

Jamie was a guest star in the second season of Joss Whedon's Dollhouse. He played a character who married Echo, played by Eliza Dushku. He also worked again with his Battlestar Galactica co-star Tahmoh Penikett in that episode. In the BBC show Outcasts, Jamie played a leader of colonists on a faraway planet. He chose a smaller role in this show because he didn't want to do another science fiction series right after Battlestar Galactica.
