Jarett Juma Porter Dillard (born December 21, 1985) is an American former professional football player. He played as a wide receiver for the Jacksonville Jaguars in the National Football League (NFL). Jarett played college football for the Rice Owls, where he was recognized as an All-American in 2008. The Jacksonville Jaguars chose him in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL draft. After his football career, Jarett became a lawyer in Texas.

Growing Up in San Antonio
Jarett Dillard was born and grew up in San Antonio, Texas. His parents are Porter and Robin Dillard. He has two siblings, Tai and Darik.
The Dillard family is very smart! Jarett was the top student (valedictorian) at Sam Houston High School. His sister, Tai, was the second-best student (salutatorian) at the same school. Their brother, Darik, ranked third in his class at MacArthur High School.
Tai Dillard also played professional basketball in the WNBA for the San Antonio Stars. She played college basketball for The University of Texas at Austin. Today, Tai is an Assistant coach for the University of Houston's women's basketball team. Darik Dillard played football for Rice University, just like Jarett.
College Football Star
Jarett Dillard became a huge star in college football during the 2006 season. He played for the Rice Owls and broke many school records for receiving. He was even a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, which goes to the best receiver in the country.
ESPN named him a first-team All-American. He also set a new NCAA record for catching at least one touchdown pass in the most games in a row.
In 2006, Jarett helped lead Rice to their first bowl game in 45 years! A bowl game is a special game played at the end of the college football season. Rice won 7 out of their last 8 games that season. During those games, Jarett caught 55 passes for 826 yards and 16 touchdowns.
He was recognized as an All-American by many sports groups, including Sports Illustrated and the Associated Press.
Jarett had an amazing streak of 15 straight games where he caught a touchdown pass. Only Larry Fitzgerald had a longer streak with 18 games. In the New Orleans Bowl, Jarett caught a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter. This set a new record for the most games with a touchdown in a single season (13 games). In 2006, he caught a total of 21 touchdown passes, which was a record for both Rice and the C-USA league.
He also had 91 catches for 1,247 yards that year. He caught three touchdown passes in four different games!
In 2007, Jarett caught another 14 touchdown passes. He became one of only eight players ever to catch 40 touchdown passes in their college career, and he did it while still a junior!
Jarett Dillard holds the NCAA record for career touchdown receptions with 60. This is more than any other player in college football history! He broke the old record of 50 touchdowns.
Jarett and Rice quarterback Chase Clement also hold an NCAA record. They teamed up for 51 career touchdowns, which is the most between a quarterback and receiver duo.

Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars picked Jarett Dillard in the fifth round of the 2009 NFL draft. He was the second player from Rice University to be drafted by the Jaguars. He signed his first professional contract on July 17, 2009.
As a rookie in 2009, Jarett caught six passes for 106 yards. However, his season ended early when he broke his ankle in a game against the New York Jets.
In 2010, Jarett was placed on the injured reserve list because of a foot injury. This meant he could not play at all during that season. The Jaguars released him from the team on May 7, 2012.
Detroit Lions
Jarett signed with the Detroit Lions on June 16, 2012. But he was released by the team on August 27, 2012, before the regular season began.
Arizona Cardinals
Jarett then signed with the Arizona Cardinals on April 24, 2013. He was later released by the Cardinals on August 24, 2013, after reaching an injury settlement.
