How He Was Elected
In 2017, Jason Crow announced he would run for Congress. He wanted to represent Colorado's 6th congressional district. This seat was held by a Republican for many years.
Crow won the Democratic primary election with 68% of the votes. Then, in the main election in November 2018, he defeated the current representative, Mike Coffman. Crow won with 54% of the votes. This made him the first Democrat to represent the district since it was created in 1983.
Crow was re-elected for his second term in 2020. He won against Steve House by more than 17% of the votes. In 2022, he won his third term. A change in district boundaries helped him win with 61% of the votes.
What He Does in Congress
Jason Crow has sponsored many bills, mostly about military or foreign affairs. He is known for working with both parties.
During the January 6 United States Capitol attack, Crow was among a group of representatives stuck inside the Capitol building. He said he went "back into combat mode" to protect himself and others. A photo of him holding another representative's hand went viral.
In 2024, Crow was named to a special group of lawmakers. This group is looking into the attempted assassination of Donald Trump.

His Political Views
Foreign Policy
During the Russo-Ukrainian War, Crow supported giving F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. He also voted to show support for Israel after the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel. However, he has also expressed concerns about how the Israel-Hamas War is affecting people in Gaza. He wants President Biden to encourage Israel to change its war strategy.
Gun Control
Crow supports changes to gun laws. He voted for a bill that would require background checks for gun buyers, even from unlicensed sellers. He also supports a ban on certain types of guns, often called assault weapons.
Impeachment
In 2019, Crow and six other new lawmakers wrote an article supporting an impeachment inquiry against Donald Trump. They believed it was important to investigate the president. In January 2020, Crow was chosen as one of seven managers. These managers presented the case against President Trump during his first impeachment trial.
LGBT Rights
Jason Crow supports same-sex marriage. He also wants to expand laws that protect LGBT people from unfair treatment. He was against President Trump's ban on transgender people serving in the military. He also supported the Equality Act in 2021.
Special Interests
Crow decided not to accept money from corporate political action committees (PACs) during his campaigns. He supports a bill called the For the People Act of 2019. This bill aims to make elections fairer. It would stop unfair drawing of election districts (gerrymandering) and make it easier for people to register to vote. It also tries to limit the influence of "dark money" in politics.
Personal Life
Jason Crow and his former wife, Deserai, have two children.
