Jason Steven Cummings (born 1 August 1995) is a professional footballer who plays as a striker. He currently plays for Indian Super League club Mohun Bagan.
Jason was born in Scotland. He played for Scotland's youth and senior national teams. Later, he chose to represent the Australia national team.
He started his professional journey with Hibernian. He was their top goal scorer for three seasons in a row. This was a big achievement, as no other Hibs player had done this for over 50 years! He helped Hibs win the Scottish Cup in 2016. They also won promotion to a higher league in 2017.
After Hibernian, Jason played for several clubs. These included Nottingham Forest, Rangers, Peterborough United, and Luton Town. He then joined Shrewsbury Town and later Dundee. With Dundee, he helped them get promoted to the Scottish Premiership. In 2022, Jason moved to Australia to play for Central Coast Mariners.
Jason made his first senior international appearance for Scotland in 2017. In 2022, he started playing for Australia. He was even chosen for their team in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Playing for Clubs
Early Days and Hibernian Success
Jason Cummings grew up supporting Hearts. He played for a local youth team called Hutchison Vale. He then joined the Hearts youth program.
After some injuries, Hearts released him in 2012. But Jason didn't give up! He had a great season with Hutchison Vale. This led to him signing with Hibernian in 2013.
He made his first senior appearance for Hibernian in November 2013. In May 2014, he scored his first two goals. This helped Hibernian win a play-off match. However, Hibs later lost and were moved down to a lower league.
In 2014, Jason won an award for the best young player. He also made history in 2016. He became the first Hibs player in 42 years to score in four straight matches against their rivals, Hearts.
Jason helped Hibs win the Scottish Cup in 2016. He even assisted the first goal in the final! In 2017, he became the first Hibernian player since 1961 to score more than 20 goals for three seasons in a row. He also helped Hibs win the league title and get promoted back to the Scottish Premiership.
Moving to Nottingham Forest and Loan Spells
In June 2017, Jason signed a three-year contract with Nottingham Forest. He scored his first goal for them in his very first game.
However, he didn't play regularly for Forest. So, he went on loan to other clubs.
- In January 2018, he joined Rangers in Scotland. He scored his first goal for them just four days after his debut. He even scored three goals in one Scottish Cup game!
- In July 2018, he moved to Peterborough United. He started strong, scoring six goals in his first five games.
- In January 2019, he was loaned to Luton Town. He scored an important goal for them in April 2019, helping them get a draw.
Shrewsbury Town and Dundee
On 2 September 2019, Jason signed with Shrewsbury Town. He scored on his debut for the club. He also scored two goals in a big FA Cup match against Liverpool in January 2020.
In January 2021, Jason returned to Scotland to play for Dundee. He quickly became one of Dundee's top scorers. He played a key part in helping Dundee win their play-offs. This meant they were promoted to the Scottish Premiership.
Success with Central Coast Mariners
In January 2022, Jason moved to Australia. He signed an 18-month contract with Central Coast Mariners. He scored in his first game for them.
Jason had a very successful time with the Mariners. In the 2022–23 season, he scored 20 goals. This broke the record for most league goals in a season for the Mariners. He also scored three goals in the 2023 A-League Men Grand Final. His team won the final 6–1 against Melbourne City. Jason was named the best player of the Grand Final! He left the Mariners as a club legend.
Playing for Mohun Bagan
In June 2023, Jason joined Indian Super League club Mohun Bagan. He made his debut in the Durand Cup. He scored his first goal for them in an AFC Cup match.
Jason won his first trophy with Mohun Bagan in the 2023 Durand Cup final. He also scored a goal in his league debut for the club in September.
Playing for His Country
Scotland National Team
Jason played for Scotland's under-19 and under-21 teams. In November 2017, he was called up to the senior Scotland squad. He played his first full international game in a friendly match.
Australia National Team
Jason's mother was born in Australia, so he is also an Australian citizen. This meant he could choose to play for Australia.
In 2019, the Australia manager, Graham Arnold, said he wanted Jason to play for Australia. Jason had only played friendly games for Scotland, so he was allowed to switch.
In September 2022, Jason was chosen for the Australian team. He made his debut and scored a penalty goal in a match against New Zealand. In November 2022, he was selected for Australia's squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Jason played in Australia's first World Cup match against France.
