Jason Omar Holder was born on November 5, 1991. He is a famous cricketer from Barbados. He used to be the captain of the West Indies cricket team. Jason is a right-arm medium-fast bowler and a strong batsman. This means he is an "all-rounder" in cricket. He plays in all three main types of cricket games.
In 2019, he was ranked the best all-rounder in the world for Test cricket. He was also named Test Player of the Year by Cricket West Indies. In 2021, he was chosen as one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Year. Jason Holder made history by being the first West Indian man to take a hat-trick in a T20 International game. He is also one of only a few West Indian players to score over 2000 runs and take 100 wickets in One Day International (ODI) games. He is only the second West Indian, after the legendary Sir Garfield Sobers, to achieve 2500 runs and 150 wickets in Test matches. Jason was part of the West Indies team that won the 2016 T20 World Cup.

International Cricket Journey
Starting His Career
Jason Holder played his first One Day International (ODI) game on February 1, 2013. This was against Australia. In July 2013, he showed his bowling skills by taking 4 wickets for only 13 runs against Pakistan. Later in that series, he helped his team get a tie by scoring 19 runs very quickly.
He played his first Twenty20 International (T20I) game in January 2014 against New Zealand. He took 2 wickets in that match.
Jason made his Test cricket debut on June 26, 2014, also against New Zealand. He took his first Test wicket by getting Ross Taylor out. He also scored 90 runs in that match, which included his first Test half-century.
Becoming a Captain
Jason Holder became the captain of the West Indies ODI team in 2015. He was only 23 years old, making him the youngest West Indies ODI captain ever. Later that year, he also became the captain of the Test team. He was the second youngest Test captain for the West Indies.
As captain, he led his team to the quarter-finals of the 2015 World Cup. In April 2015, he scored his first Test century against England. This helped his team get a draw in the match.
In 2017, Jason took 5 wickets for only 27 runs in an ODI game against India. This was his first time taking five wickets in an ODI. His great bowling helped West Indies win the match, and he was named "man of the match."
In 2018, Jason became the fastest West Indies player to score 1,000 runs and take 100 wickets in ODIs. He was also named to the ICC Test Team of the Year.
In January 2019, Jason scored his first double century (200 runs) in Test cricket. This amazing score helped his team win by a large margin against England. After this match, he became the top-ranked all-rounder in Test cricket. He was the first West Indies player to reach this spot since Garfield Sobers in 1974.
He captained the West Indies team in the 2019 Cricket World Cup. During this tournament, he played his 100th ODI match. He also became the first West Indies captain to take 100 wickets in ODIs. In August 2019, he took his 100th wicket in Test cricket.

After Captaincy
Even after stepping down as captain, Jason continued to perform well. In March 2021, he took 5 wickets for 27 runs against Sri Lanka in a Test match. He was named one of Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Year in April 2021.
In January 2022, Jason had an incredible performance against England in a T20I game. He took 5 wickets for 27 runs, which was his first five-wicket haul in T20Is. He also made history by taking a hat-trick (three wickets in three balls). He even took four wickets in four balls, which is very rare! For this amazing effort, he won both "Player of the Match" and "Player of the Series" awards.
In February 2022, he scored 57 runs in an ODI against India. This made him the fifth West Indian to achieve both 2,000 runs and 100 wickets in ODIs. In March 2023, he took his 150th Test wicket. This made him only the second West Indian, after Sir Garfield Sobers, to reach both 2500 runs and 150 wickets in Test cricket.
In May 2024, he was chosen for the West Indies squad for the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup tournament.
