Francisco Javier "Javi" de Pedro Falque (born on 4 August 1973) is a Spanish former football player. He was known for his powerful left-foot shot.

Javi de Pedro mainly played as a left midfielder for Real Sociedad. He also played professionally in four other countries during his career. He represented the Spanish national team at the 2002 FIFA World Cup.

Club Career Highlights

Javi de Pedro was born in Logroño, La Rioja, Spain. He grew up playing football in the youth system of Real Sociedad. He first played for the main team on 7 November 1993. This was in a game where Real Sociedad lost 1–3 at home against UE Lleida.

Playing for Real Sociedad

Javi de Pedro quickly became a very important player for Real Sociedad. He was great at creating chances for his teammates and scoring goals himself. In the 2002–03 season, he played in 29 games and scored three goals. That season, Real Sociedad finished second in La Liga, which is Spain's top football league. They were only two points behind the champions, Real Madrid.

He also played in the UEFA Champions League the next season. In one game, he scored a goal against Juventus FC after coming on as a substitute.

Time in Other Countries

In June 2004, Javi de Pedro moved to England to play for Blackburn Rovers. He made his first appearance for them on 14 August in a Premier League game. It was a 1–1 draw at home against West Bromwich Albion.

In January 2005, Javi de Pedro left Blackburn Rovers. He then joined Perugia Calcio in Italy, where he played a few matches. After that, he briefly joined IFK Göteborg in Sweden. He left the Swedish club after only a few days for personal reasons.

Later, he played some exhibition games for Ergotelis F.C. in Greece. He then returned to Spain to play for Burgos CF, but he did not play many games for them. His last club was CD Vera in the Canary Islands. He retired from football after this experience and began training to become a coach.

International Career

Javi de Pedro made his debut for the Spanish national team on 23 September 1998. This was in a friendly match against Russia in Granada.

He was part of the Spanish team that played in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He started in all of Spain's matches during that tournament. His last game for Spain was in 2003.

Javi de Pedro also played for the Basque Country regional team. He scored goals for them against Nigeria and Morocco.
