Early Life and Music Beginnings

Jax Jones was born in London on July 25, 1987. His father is Turkish and his mother is Chinese-Malaysian. His father gave him the name Timucin.

Jax's Nigerian stepfather introduced him to different types of music. He learned about afrobeat from Fela Kuti. He also heard rap music from Notorious B.I.G.. Jax listened to many styles, including hip hop, R&B, gospel, and traditional African music. His mother enjoyed music from Kylie Minogue to Luther Vandross, which also shaped his taste.

Music producers like the Neptunes, Timbaland, and Rodney Jerkins inspired him. He was fascinated by how rhythms were put together in songs. Jax started learning classical guitar when he was young. At 15, he began making his own beats. He discovered a music software called Cubase on a friend's Atari computer.
