Javorius Tykies Scott (born July 15, 1998 – died July 27, 2022), known professionally as JayDaYoungan, was an American rapper and singer. He became well-known for his songs "23 Island", "Elimination", and "Opps". These songs were streamed millions of times on SoundCloud.
JayDaYoungan released several mixtapes, including Forever 23 (2018) and Endless Pain (2019). His first major mixtape, Misunderstood (2019), reached number 43 on the US Billboard 200 music chart. His first studio album, Baby23, came out in 2020. He first gained attention with his mixtapes Ruffwayy and The Real Jumpman 23, which featured popular tracks like "Sliding Freestyle".

Early Life
Scott was born on July 15, 1998, in Bogalusa, Louisiana. He started rapping when he was 18 years old. He decided to leave high school to focus on his music career.
Music Career
2017–2018: Starting Out and First Hits
In February 2017, JayDaYoungan released his mixtape Ruffwayy. This mixtape became popular in his local area and helped him get noticed. His song "Interstate" quickly gained over 4 million views on YouTube. Because of his growing popularity, he was considered for the XXL freshman list in 2018, which highlights new and rising rappers.
After Ruffwayy, he released another mixtape called The Real Jumpman 23. This project included 13 songs, such as "Sliding Freestyle" and "Muddy Situation". He then put out more mixtapes, Wake Up and Taking Off. The Taking Off mixtape featured other rappers like FG Famous and NBA 3Three.
His song "Elimination" from the mixtape 23 became a nationwide hit. It has been streamed over 62.8 million times on Spotify. He even talked about the meaning of the song in an interview with the lyric company Genius. The 23 mixtape had 10 songs and did not feature any other artists.
Next, he released the mixtape Forever 23. This mixtape featured popular songs like "Thot Thot" and "Purge", which also gained millions of streams on Spotify. These songs helped him become known around the world. The music review site AllMusic gave Forever 23 a good rating. Even without guest artists, the mixtape reached number 86 on the Billboard 200 chart. This was his first time appearing on that chart. It also reached number 37 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.
2019–2022: More Albums and Chart Success
After Forever 23, JayDaYoungan released the mixtape Endless Pain. This album became known for songs like "Repo" and "War Ready". Endless Pain reached number 70 on the Billboard 200 and number 37 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums charts.
He then worked with rapper Yungeen Ace on a mixtape called Can't Speak On It. This project included the songs "Opps" and "Creep Behind". JayDaYoungan later released another mixtape titled Misunderstood. This mixtape featured the hit song "23 Island", which was streamed over 17.8 million times on Spotify. "23 Island" also reached number 9 on the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Chart. The Misunderstood mixtape included guest appearances from YFN Lucci, Boosie Badazz, FG Famous, JetSoo, and Lil Durk. Lil Durk even remixed the song "Dum" from the Endless Pain mixtape. Misunderstood had 19 songs and reached number 43 on the Billboard 200 chart.
On January 3, 2020, JayDaYoungan reached number 36 on the Billboard Emerging Artists Chart, showing his rising popularity.
In May 2020, JayDaYoungan released "Touch Your Toes" with rapper Latto. This song was a single from his first studio album, Baby23, which came out on June 5, 2020. The album was named after his first child, who was born on the same night. Baby23 included the singles "23 Island", "Perky Activated", and "38k". It also featured artists like Dej Loaf, Moneybagg Yo, and Kevin Gates.
On June 11, 2021, JayDaYoungan released another album called 23 Is Back. This project had 13 songs and did not feature any other artists.
Musical Style
JayDaYoungan shared that he grew up listening to artists like Kevin Gates, Boosie Badazz, and Chief Keef. People often compared his rapping style and flow to Boosie and Youngboy Never Broke Again. However, he said that he didn't feel he sounded like anyone else and wasn't trying to copy anyone. Music critic Fred Thomas noted that his style was similar to Lil Wayne and Kevin Gates.
JayDaYoungan also spoke about his future goals. He said that later in his career, he wanted to sign new artists and start his own music label. He always aimed to improve his music skills every day.
Tragic Passing
On July 27, 2022, JayDaYoungan was at his home in Bogalusa, Louisiana with his father, Kenyatta Scott. During an incident, JayDaYoungan was tragically killed. His father was also injured but survived. JayDaYoungan passed away at a local hospital.
Funeral Service
JayDaYoungan's funeral was held on August 7, 2022. The service took place in the auditorium of his former high school in Bogalusa. Many people attended, including well-known artists like Boosie Badazz and Yungeen Ace.
