Jay Walker, born on January 24, 1972, is an American businessman and former politician. He also used to be a professional football player. He served in the Maryland House of Delegates, which is part of the state's government. Jay Walker played as a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). Today, he leads Walker Financial Services and works as a football expert for ESPN.

Early Life and Education
Jay Walker was born in California. He went to University High School in Los Angeles. Later, he studied political science at Howard University and earned a degree.
Sports Career
Playing Football
Jay Walker played quarterback in both college and professional football. Before football, he even played professional baseball for a short time. After high school, the Major League Baseball team, the California Angels, chose him in their draft. He spent one year as a pitcher in the minor leagues. Then, he decided to play college football instead. He first went to Long Beach State but moved when the school stopped its football program.
Walker then joined the Howard Bison football team. There, he set new records for how many passes he completed and how many yards he threw in a season. He also set a record for completing 38 passes in one game. Because of his great passing, people called him "Sky Walker." He was chosen for the All-MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) teams in 1993 and 1994. In 1994, he was named Offensive Player of the Year. That year, his team had a perfect season and won the MEAC championship. They also claimed the black college football national championship. The team made it to the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs for the first time and ranked among the top ten teams nationally. In 2005, Jay Walker was honored in the Howard University Athletics Hall of Fame.
Walker then played professional football in the National Football League. The New England Patriots chose him in the seventh round of the 1994 NFL draft. He joined quarterbacks Drew Bledsoe and Scott Zolak. In 1995, Walker played for the Barcelona Dragons in the World League of American Football. He got injured in a game where he had to throw the ball on every play because there were no running backs. After his injury, he left the Patriots. But he returned to the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, where he was a backup player for two years. In his NFL career, he attempted two passes, and both were completed.

Serving in the Maryland Legislature
Jay Walker was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from January 10, 2007, to January 11, 2023. This is a group of elected officials who make laws for the state of Maryland. He was part of the House Ways and Means Committee, which handles money and taxes. He was also a member of the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland.
In 2007, Walker introduced House Bill 30. This bill helped create the Maryland Educational Fund, which supports education in the state. In March 2022, Walker announced that he would not run for any political office again.

Jay Walker is married to Monique Anderson-Walker. She is also a former politician who ran for lieutenant governor of Maryland in 2022. He lives in Fort Washington, Maryland, and has three children.
