Jaye P. Morgan (born Mary Margaret Morgan; December 3, 1931) is an American singer, actress, and game show panelist. She became famous in the 1950s for her hit songs and later for appearing on many TV shows.

Early Life: Growing Up in Colorado and California

Jaye P. Morgan was born in Mancos, a town in southwestern Colorado. Her family moved to California when she was in high school. Jaye P. had six brothers and sisters.

While attending Verdugo Hills High School in Los Angeles, she was the class treasurer. She got the nickname "Jaye P." because it sounded like the famous banker J. P. Morgan. She also loved to sing at school events, often with her brother playing the guitar.

Career: Singing and Acting on TV

In 1953, Jaye P. Morgan recorded a song called "Life Is Just a Bowl of Cherries". It became popular and reached number 26 on the U.S. Billboard music chart. Soon after, she signed a contract with RCA Victor, a big record company.

She had five hit songs in one year! Her biggest hit was "That's All I Want from You", which reached number 3 on the charts. Other popular songs included "There's a Dream in My Heart" and "The Longest Walk". In 1959, she moved to another record company, MGM Records.

Early TV Appearances and Her Own Show

From 1954 to 1955, Jaye P. Morgan was a singer on the ABC TV show Stop the Music. In 1955, a British music magazine called NME said she was the best female singer in the U.S. Cash Box poll. She was also a featured singer on The Robert Q. Lewis Show on CBS-TV starting in 1954.

In 1956, Jaye P. Morgan had her very own show, The Jaye P. Morgan Show. She also appeared as a guest on many other variety shows. She was part of the "gang" on Robert Q. Lewis's daily show on CBS. She even filled in for Jackie Gleason on his show once! In 1958, she appeared on ABC's The Pat Boone Chevy Showroom, and in 1960, she was a guest on NBC's The Ford Show, Starring Tennessee Ernie Ford.

Acting Roles in TV Shows and Movies

Jaye P. Morgan also started acting. In 1961, she played Sally Dwight in an episode of General Electric Theater, a TV show hosted by Ronald Reagan. In 1962, she appeared in the CBS show Hennesey and NBC's The Joey Bishop Show. In 1964, she was in an episode of the medical drama The Eleventh Hour.

Even though she spent a lot of time performing in nightclubs in the 1960s and 1970s, she kept acting. In 1966, she played a singer named Claudia Farrell on My Three Sons. In 1973, she played herself in an episode of The Odd Couple. That same year, she was in the movie The All-American Boy. She also sang the theme song for the NBC comedy show Fay in 1975.

In 1978, Jaye P. Morgan was a guest on The Muppet Show. She sang "That Old Black Magic" with Dr. Teeth. She also appeared many times on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. In the 1980s and early 1990s, she acted in movies like Loose Shoes (1980), Night Patrol (1984), and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York (1992).

Game Show Panelist: A Fun TV Role

Jaye P. Morgan was also known for being a panelist on many game shows. One of her first times as a panelist was in 1970 for a show called "The Honeymoon Game." She would ask questions about music to the people playing the game.

She also appeared as herself in the 2003 movie Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. This movie was about Chuck Barris, who created famous game shows like The Gong Show, The Dating Game, and The Newlywed Game.

Jaye P. Morgan was also a panelist on shows like Rhyme and Reason, Match Game, and Make Me Laugh.
